I see tons of gift cards, for example. I Home Depot $100, they are asking $110.....Who the hell would buy that?

Do you have to pay tax on giftcards or any other fees? Also, people might add in the cost of their time and gas used to go to the store and purchase it. Nothing i would do, but just a couple thoughts.

Hopefully someone can answer because I'm interested. The only thing I can even possibly think of is maybe someone wants to get a gift card for someone but is willing to pay $5-$10 extra so they don't have to waste time and gas actually going to the store... Hell if I know.

Logically that is the only thing that makes sense

I've bought gift cards on ebay a bunch of times...if you look around you can save an easy 10% on whatever you're looking to buy. Bought a laptop, tv, and some furniture that way. Works great....:toast:

And I figure someone asking over card value is just trying to make up for the listing and selling fees....but you'd have to be a complete moron to buy one.

as far as buying them over priced now.. its only for very hot stores and yes people are just saving gas and what not....but in the past when there was that BING cash from shopping on ebay gift cards were a major hit. walmart and best buy cards used to sell for 50$ over the 500$ card... reason why is BING cash would be like 20% and so whatever the buyer paid they would save 20% so a 550$ (500 walmart card) would save them 110$ and the sellers knew that so thats why they listed card buy it now 50$ over market value.

but nowadays its only the Im to lazy to not buy this gift card for 5$ more deal. lol since bing is long gone.... but other rebate places exist.. just not nearly as much savings.
