never been before not really sure what to expect...wouldnt mind getting called if its a 1day type of case but really dont wanna be on a week long jury...gf was picked during the winter and was on one for 5 days....

courthouse a hike from where i currently live so that kinda sucks as well

i had it roughly 12 or 13 years ago.....worked nights and smoked pot back then so it worked out pretty well.....i milked it for 3 days, 1st day they select the juries, the trial i sat on only lasted 2 days, some guy got hit by an old woman and he was suing her for the insurance, 6 figures.....be careful what you eat for lunch, the afternoon can take forever when you have to take a shit and you don't want to ask the judge for a timeout

I just told the truth....I know Many Judges, Police and Alderman... through the years...

they did the check on this...and... since then never again...

One thing...I've heard...is if you scream, cry and bitch you're a racisit...during the question session...

it's almost automatic you will be let go... I've never had to do this..tho

it's not that hard to get out of if you really want to.....they will give you that "look" though, the one that basically forces you to lie to their face if you're just making up some bullshit to get out of it

I"ve been called 3 times, but never had to sit on a jury -out by lunch every time. I don't know if this is really true or not, but I've been told that Friday is always a good day to go because they don't wnat to start much on a Friday and then have to wait the week-end before resuming. So far it's worked for me. Whenever I get a notice, I postpone and make sure it's the court nearest to me and on a Friday. Of course now I've probably jinxed myself.

It depends on who you work for, ask your HR. I did jury duty a few years ago and got picked to be on the jury I got paid for 40 hours for the week I missed. It was a Union Job though

This I truely understand...however...It can/could & would be grounds for a mistrail...had I went forward in the process...and then it came out......

Somethings...are better left unsaid... for this I HAVE NO REGRETS...mark my words

I've been called 3 times. One time I had to sit on the jury for 5 days in a civil trial against 3 police officers. The other 2 times I was never called. It's not only your "duty" to go, but it against the law if you don't. I've heard of people never going once they've gotten a summons, and getting away with it.. And I've also heard of people who didn't go and ended up paying a hefty fine. I think much of it depends on where you live. But why take a chance? It's the law.

everyone hates jury duty, until you get your freedoms taken away from you, and depend on 12 of your peers to honestly look at facts and literally decide one's freedom. it's a shame people despise it. once again, you hate jury duty until your on the other side, when you want the best 12 individuals to decide your fate. I'm obviously talking about criminal cases, not civil. gl

They pay for it even if you don't get picked for the final jury. Do you want to get out of it?

I served on a jury this past summer that involved cops. The judge asks questions like "Does anyone here have a close relationship with a police officer and believes this may interfere with their judgement?"

They will do the same thing with your case. Whenever the judge asks if a certain thing might cause you to be biased always try to say yes. The lawyers are not gonna want to risk it and pick you. If I were you I'd try to get chosen though depending on what the case is. I wouldn't want to serve on a jury where someone could end up getting life.
