Colorado Rockies ML -115

Well going to try and ride the red hot Rockies instead of wasting my time and money with the Mets and Jonathan Niese. Check some of my reasons why:

- Niese is on the mound for the Mets and in his career he has made 7 starts in the Month of April and has won only one time. In his career he has made 28 starts at night and won only seven of those starts and I just can't back someone like that. He is 0-1 lifetime versus the Rockies in three career starts with an ERA of 4.91 in those games and with the Rockies batting .301 against him in those three starts. So all the problems Colorado has had against lefties this year probably won't be obvious in this game. You have guys like Seth Smith batting .333 against Niese, Troy Tulowitzki batting .286 against Niese and Todd Helton batting .400 against Niese in his career. All three are in the lineup tonight.

-Esmil Rogers won't be available at this price for very long. He was brilliant in his 7-1 win over the Pirates last week and although he had a rough time in 2010, he seems to have a lot more control this year. Rogers has never won at home and has pitched so much better on the road for the Rockies so if you are going to back this guy make sure it's away from home. Again Rogers struggled quite a bit last year but on the road he finished the season strong. In his last four road starts of 2010 in Pittsburgh, Arizona, San Francisco and St. Louis, he never once allowed more than 3 ER's but he also lacked the run support to win games. Probably won't be the case this time around.

-Also please consider that Niese sucks at home. He is 0-2 lifetime in home starts against Colorado and in his last four starts home starts of 2010, Niese allowed 16 ER's, getting rocked by the Marlins and Brewers. The Mets bullpen has been a huge problem with an ERA of 5.21 this year compared to a Rockies bullpen who can come in a shut the door with their 2.38 ERA so far this year.

Neither team is batting all that well but at the end of the day, the Rockies have more pop in their swing and they have found a way to win games.
