One of the best ever IMO....saw them a few times in concert. Put out some great music/albums. My personal favorite was Eat A Peach....Live at Fillmore East not too bad.
I'm heading to youtube right now.

With Duane Allman they were the best live band of all time. "You Don't Love Me" off of their Live at the Fillmore East is the greatest 20 minutes of live jamming that I've ever heard.

I have also them live at least 5 times. Their Eat a Peach album is a classic.
They played at a Gateway Computers Christmas Party here in town when Gateway was going strong.

They are my second favorite band next to Jethro Tull.

I have that Gateway show, horrible audio though. I saw them in Sioux City, Saturday in the Park in 2000 with Jimmy Herring filling in for Dickey Betts.

Jimmy Herring isn't too shabby himself. His own bands Jazz Is Dead and Justice League Of America are very good live bands.

ok, that summer 2000 run with Derek and Jimmy was unreal. I like how they play off each other and they have the same skill level (very, very high!) During that summer they do Franklins Tower and they do it with style. Highlite, those two running a 30 minute plus mountain jam!

Their catalog is great, but they are so old. Obviously, they miss Duane, and after they kicked out Dickie Betts, they really don't have the two signature sounds of the band. I saw them with Derek Trucks about ten years ago, and they had a really bad night. But, props to them for doing what they love.

The 20th anniversary show in 1989 I attended in Charlotte was THE BEST concert I have ever seen. That was when they were in really in their prime, even though some in attendance of The Beacon Shows they do in New York might feel otherwise. 3 1/2 hours of all the classics and everyone who went with me all agree this was the best we ever saw. If you have never seen them do Whippin Post live with all the lights synchronized with the cresendo of the song, I really can't explain or put into words the experience. The only phrase that might apply is "Mind Blowing".
