I find it amazing, that after googling "Eugene Nolan", one of the "biggest gamblers" I ever met personally, in my life, in the late 1960's, I somehow was "brought to this site. Anyone who knew Bob Martin, Harry Gordon, Frank Hall, and others who lived in Vegas in the 1960's and 1970's, knew or knew of Eugene Nolan., aka #1. Does anyone who knows of, or knows Eugene, know if he is still alive?

Welcome to the RX Harry.....

You are going way back when you bring up Nolan.

I think some of the Old timers would know better about him.

Thanks for the reply. First of all, I'm 62, and have been around since a very young age. Too young! lol
How would you compare this site (forum, etc) to that of Pregame.com? If you have a opinion I'd appreciate it.

My Opinion might be a little Bias , since I work here.

But outside of that, and even before I did work here. I believe you can't even compare the two sites.
We are a lot larger then Pregame.

lol.....No, I'm not him. I like freedom too much. I do get somewhat entertained, browsing other sites, listening to stories about how much money guys moved in the "Old days"....I was too young to move anything but my furniture from one pad to another but know Eugene was not called #1 by those in Vegas, for any other reason than when he moved, the country moved their lines. I just wondered if he was still kicking. If he were "in action" today, and maybe he is, he'd make this "new guy on the block" who was featured on ESPN look like a piker.

We talking about Billy W ??

He moves the lines, as does a hand full of others.

But yeah... back in the day there were a number of Movers....

Wasn't Nolan taking bets from New Orleans?
Or am I thinking of someone else?

Thanks for the opinion! As I enter the twilight of my life, I'm basically retired, however, I still wager, and enjoy sports forums. Pregame.com just happened to be the first and only site I have participated in. I thought communism ended years ago, but Pregame.com, with all its good points, is run like a dictatorship. However, I'm getting a tad tired of everytime I go there, I feel like I'm entering a "police state." I guess if you don't purchase one of the packages from one of the shills they call handicappers, (kids in their late 20's who think they invented the pointspread, yet can't tell you who Bob Martin was) the powers to be begin to aggrivate you in a very savvy way, until you get so aggrivated you want to leave. So, I just might do so. This seems like a certainly more professionally run site, thats for sure! Thanks for your replies.

Welcome aboard Harry

After working at other sites and frequenting them for years, I can tell you none compare to the overall knowledgeable core of posters here at TheRx as well as solid cappers.

As you already mentioned and experienced other sites either act like kids, are kids, hate themsleves, hate other posters, or don't have a clue period.

Well we do 'Police' the site, as we don't go for the "Drama" that other sites have.
But there's no pushing you to use one of our Sportsbook Sponsors up top.
We have no Touts here.... as we Don't allow it in our Sub- Sports Forums
Only in the Site Promotions sub-forum.

We do have some good handicappers ( Regular posters ) here. You just need to weed them out and Not Blindly follow just anybody.

One of the things we do "police" is trying to keep everyone that Posts their picks, is to use Lines that are Available at that time.

Just look around, check out the site.....

Had to get offline, but I'm caught up now, and I will take you up on this, "look around", post a few things, and see how it goes. I can tell, just from coming on the site this morning, there is a different attitude. We all know, nothing is perfect. But controlling the things we can, are something that puts one site on top of another. For me, I feel what I have to offer is a long period of experience. And when I tried to share it, I was rejected like as if I was some square, with a few bucks that they thought they would expect me to give away. That will never happen. You would think younger guys would appreciate things like The El Cortez putting up the first moneylines in sports with pointspreads, etc. I do not ever expect anyone to thinkthat I feel I'm some sort of expert on anything. But for younger people (and older) who can't make a number without a computer or without someone else's Power ratings, you would think they might want to learn from someone who suffered through the years when you were only as smart as your ability to listen or to be gifted enough to do it yourself. I'm somewhere in the middle. I'm not against people patying a reliable handicapper for his or her work product. But what I do believe that to find a honest, gifted handicapper, who over the long haul can help you win, if you have a bankroll, and if you listen, are things I'm interested in seeing happen. Finding a honest handicapper, for those who for whatever reason cannot pick winners, are better off in a site like this, where hopefully they can read and seperate. Picking a "good" offshore sportsbook today, is another ballgame. I have found over the last 5 years, EVERY ONE I have contacted, with no introduction, has assumed they are dealing with a public fool. What most sportsbooks advertise, they do not do.....and thats sad. In 1995, a good offshore spot, gave me a computer, at no cost and when I requested a withdrawal, in 24 hours, I had my money. I will close with this statement as it really aggrivates me. I can send #3000 via Moneygram/Western Union to them, the same day I ask them if I can. But a withdrawal, the same spot that gave me the computer, will only allow you to withdraw $798.00 in one day via Moneygram/Western Union. Not one person that was there when I sent my first deposit 7 years ago, is not there now! I can only assume the business was sold, to some irresponsible people, who have no idea what they are doing. Needless to say, I closed my account and have yet to find one that I consider to be professional or reliable. Sorry for the rambling! Have a great day!

.......Went to Busch Staduim that season and actually witnessed a TUDOR vs GOODEN matchup with a standing room only crowd(our seats were behind and above the leftfield foul pole, lol).

You got it right on the bullseye steak tartar! I took Florida +3 vs. L.S.U. late 60's and thought Gene was losing it as Gainsville had one great team. Joe Labruzzo fumbled 6 times inside the Florida 20 yd. line that day! Once again, Gene, Dr. Charles got the $. He was the greatest! (Joe Labruzzo committed suicide somtimes later). Not sure when.
