Aaron’s 499 Preview<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

NASCARheads to Talladega on Sunday for the Aaron’s 499 with Kevin Harvick looking todefend his title. Harvick is the 6-1favorite at SBG Global.com but ina restrictor plate race anyone can win. Let’s take a look at some of the contenders and a few of the longshots.

KevinHarvick is the defending champion and he has had success at restrictor platetracks but at 6-1 he does not have much value. Anyone can win at Talladega and it just happened to be that Harvick wason top when they reached the finish line last year. Two years ago it was Brad Keselowski winningthis race while Kyle Busch won in 2008. Jeff Gordon won this race in 2004, 2005and in 2007 and he is the only four-time winner of this race. Normally Gordonwould be a great choice at Talladega but he has finished in the top 10 justonce in his last six starts at the track.

TheChevy’s have dominated this race winning 11 of the last 12 with Toyota’s win byKyle Busch in 2008 the only win for another manufacturer. Starting up front really helps at Talladegaas 32 of the 83 all-time races have been won by a car starting either first orsecond. The pole sitter has won 13times. While it helps to start first orsecond, anything can happen in restrictor plate races and 23 times the winnerhas come from outside a top 10 starting spot.

Fourdrivers have odds ofless than 10-1 this week. Harvick is thefavorite at 6-1 and he is followed by Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch at 9-1 andKurt Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. at 10-1. There are six drivers listed with odds of 13-1 at SBG Global.com. They are Carl Edwards, Jamie McMurray, ClintBowyer, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon.

Ifyou are looking for a couple of longshots; and Talladega is a great track forlongshots, then Paul Menard is worth a look. Menard is off to a strong startthis Nascar betting seasonand he currently sits at 11th in the point’s standings. He is listedwith odds of 37.5-1 at SBG. Also at 37.5-1 is Brad Keselowski and we alreadyknow that he can win this race since he won it in 2009.
