Interesting.........WILLIAM HILL buys American Wagering(LEROYS) & will enter Nevada market

Nevada's 72 Leroy's sports books and kiosks are being acquired by a major British sports betting and online gaming company that controls about 25 percent of the market in the United Kingdom.

William Hill Plc will acquire Leroy's owner, American Wagering Inc., for about $18 million, the London-based company said Thursday. In addition, William Hill is buying Club Cal Neva Satellite Race and Sportsbook Division in Northern Nevada for $21 million.

It's a good thing for the most part, the only knock on the William Hill group is they are lacking in the technology department, they are still in the 1990's in the computer department.

Few good geek head hires will get them up to speed though.

I see this as nothing but bad news ! Once again We have 1 Book replace 3 books in Las Vegas and Nevada. How can that be a good thing ? They are contemplating taking over Leroy's, Cal Neva and now also Lucky's.
Cal Neva and Lucky's were two of the very best for futures odds. When Harrah's and MGM took over 3/4 of the strip, they replaced many independent sportsbooks. How did that work out ? IMO The more independent lines out there, the better !

That thread was so funny, what was even more funny was people were asking him legitimate questions like he had a damn clue.

A. its embarrassment, not embarresment.

B. If you turn out to be right about whatever your spewing, I highly doubt I'd be deeply embarrassed. Although you speak in tongues so much not sure how we could even call you right about anything.

Sorry I don't know much about the financial backing of the previous sports books but William Hill is financially very strong and stable so from that viewpoint it isn't a bad thing. On the negative side William Hill is a horrible book, they restrict you in a flash at the slightest hint that you are in anyway sharp.
