Oaklawn park race 12. I had a $2 exacta box 1, 10, 12, 14 for a total of $24. The result was 12-10 and paid $220.60. BUT THE 12 AND 14 WERE FIELD HORSES! That means that both 12-10 and 14-10 are winners and that I should be paid $441.20. They only paid on 1 combination. I talked to them last night before they paid off about it and they said it would give the track payout. I paid $24 for that ticket and would have lost all $24 dollars if for example the it ends up 12-14-3.

I've been at BetJam now for about 6 or 7 years. I will continue to try to contact someone over there but know some of you here know people who run the place and have said they are very fair with their customers. I really need to find someone who can look at this and be fair about it. If any of you have some advice that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. They said he will be in at 1:00 today. I probably shouldn't say they stole my money but I talked to managers yeterday and they just dont seem to care a whole lot so its a frustrating situation.

Do you know much about Horse Racing ???

Just because you have a Coupled or in this case Field entry, doesn't mean you Hit the Ex twice, or 3 times are Etc.

What the Field Horses do for you, is give you more Options. Meaning if it came out 13f -10, or 14f-10, you would Hit.

Betting the Field ( depending on how many in that Field horses ) gives you Extra Horses.

The Bet was Graded 100% Right.

Take it for someone that was in the Horse Racing Business for Over 25 Years

I know about 35 years worth of horse racing and I respectfully disagree with your assessment. What you may not know is that their system offered me the horses seperately. Here is my ticket.

4/16/2011 9:51 AM $24.00 Apr-16 OAK R12 2.00 USD EXX 1,10,12,14

Now they should probably not have offered both the 12 and the 14 as seperate horses but they did. Just as you say I would hit on 13f-10 or 14f-10 and I did. I hit on 12f-10 and 14f-10 and I paid $2 for both therefore I should be paid for both. The way they had it set up I would lose if lets say it finished 12-14-3 because the track would count the 12-14 as one first place finish and the 3 as second yet I paid seperately for the 12 and 14. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

You def are right on this. I can't remember seeing "field" like this ever. I know entrymates, but never saw this.

Field horses like this were very common because tracks were limited to 12 betting interests for some reason thus the extra horses were all lumped together in the 12 spot. This stopped for the most part about 10 years ago as (I guess) tracks got better technology and expanded the betting interests.

The proper way for BetJam to offer the bet would have been to just offer up the 12. Thats how the tracks do it and thats how I am sure Oaklawn did it for their paying customers. But BetJam offered both the 12 and 14 as seperate interests and I paid for each thus I paid $2 for 12f-10 and $2 for 14f-10 and both are winning combinations.

It looks like betjam made a mistake in charging for both horses when 12-14 were 1 number at oaklawn.... however this is just an honest tote error and there's no way they're going to pay 2 exactas b/c the host track only paid once ... more than likely they'll offer you a 12 dollar refund as your bet should have been 12$

i dont know a thing about horse racing but i dont understand this. if the 14 horse did not finish in the money and you bet the 12 and 14 separately why would you get paid in the 14. not trying to be a wiseass just trying to learn something i dont know a whole lot about.

Thats not right. I called them right after I made the bet and they said no refunds would be given. I risked $24 at post time. Do you think they give me anything if it comes out 12-14-3? No they would have kept the full $24. I risked 2 seperate betting interests (12f-10 and 14f-10) and they both won. Its exactly the same bet as $24 on 1-10-12f there is no difference.

Hardly. I risked $24 on 3 betting interests and I hit. I asked them about it before the race and they would not change it. I want to be treated fairly and thats it.

The original mistake was made by BJ by not recognizing there were field entries.

oaklawn park and any us otb included horse #'s 12 , 13 , and 14 all as #12. Betjam made a mistake , but they dont owe him another exacta , they owe him a 12$ refund.
