Can someone help me out with a question about units?

Hey everyone, I am new to this so I am a little lost. I am having trouble calculating my units when I bet on baseball. To make it easy lets say I bet 10 dollars on every game. If I bet 10 dollars on a team that is +145 and they win then I have 1.45 units ($14.50), if they lose then I have -1 unit (-$10.00).
What I am having trouble figuring out is how many units I win if I bet on a favorite and the favorite wins. If I bet 10 dollars on a favorite who is -145 and they win, how do I know how many units I have won? I know it would be less than 1 unit but how do I figure it out? Is there a formula I can use? I fully realize the answer is probably very obvious but I just can't seem to figure it out. I have always been bad with math. If anyone could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it. I tried googling it with no luck. Thanks.

thats why i prefer decimal odds, anyway -145 means that u have to bet 1,45u to win 1, that is the deal

So if I bet 10 dollars (1 unit) on a -145 favorite and win, how many units would I have won?

Thanks, but I guess what I am looking for is a specific way to calculate units. If I risk 1 unit on a -145 or -210 favorite and win, how many units have I won? I feel like there is a mathematical equation that would be used to figure this out, I just don't know what it is.

lets use 100 dollars for example if you bet 100 dollars on a -145 fav you win 68 dollars...so 10 dollars on a favorite at -145 would be 6.90 to win risking 10 dollars

if you bet on a favorite at -200 that is just half your bet...if you bet 200 dollars at a -200 line fav you win 100...if you bet 100 on a -200 fav you win 50

its always for example (-175) would be lay 175 dollars to win 100...in your case lay 10 dollars on a -175 would be 5.71

i dont know the exact mathematical equation sorry...

Is this fo reals?!? 1 divided by 1.45 = .69 so in other words u risk 1 to win .69 at -145 or.....how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

I know that my book calculates the would be winnings for you. Does the same for parlays. Before I actually place the bet, I type in what I am risking and the computer does the math for me... LOL.

100/-odds * amount bet

So a -145 favorite at a 75 bet would be...

100/145 * 75

.69 * 75 = 51.75

If you wager online when you put the amount it in calculates it for you.

If you wager with a local then you'll have to figure it out with a calculator, which someone posted the formula earlier, it's all just simple math.
