that offensive foul call on melo at the end of the game was really bush-league. but i think in that spot at the end of the game, he blew it. he was lagging behind the play because he wanted the ball in the back-court. should have taken the ball to the rack or at least pulled up for a mid-range, rather than shoot a 3 with two defenders in his face. i think amare should've been taking the last shot.

I don't think basketball is a game where one guy can really be the sole reason for a loss. Too team oriented.

He's getting paid like it, just ask his agent.

That offensive foul in the last minute was bs, but his shot at the end was just as bad if not worse.

Paul Pierce put the clamps on him is the real reason. Knicks played well for most of the game so I have to give them some credit for a nice effort that came up just a bit short. Ray Allen does it again (thanks to a nice feed from Pierce)...

Not all Melo's fault... but Knicks won't beat Celtics unless Walt "Clyde" Frazier suits up. Knicks haven't and don't have a clutch player since the days that "Clyde" roamed the court.

yes, and I thank him for it too

I'm sitting there yelling "shoot Melo, you're open", and then followed by a big "yes, thank you"

plus Ray Ray is the man

real bad game for melo...was struck how old and slow the celts look...guess i shouldnt be...an old team but they dont look sharp at all...big baby a disaster and rondo passing over 10 ft the balll goes in the stands... prob better for knicks if billups is hurt... i think douglas can be more effective in this series then chauncey

Um, actually the fact is that Big Baby has been playing great, so much so that
there is talk that he's the best 6th man in the league.

I would say the celts won thanks to Ray...knicks played a hell of a game and I wouldn't fault any of them...however Melo's last shot was selfish and dumb...
BTW Garnett deserves some mention for that trip

Also, nobody has mentioned Delonte coming onto the court after Rays three. He gave Ray a chestbump and almost ran into Turiaf I think. If I was Turiaf I would have run right into and drawn the T.

That sequence for the Celtics was TERRIFIC. Really well executed the desired result.

Carmelo should have been able to see he had someone to his left that had a lot of room to operate. I mean, he takes a shot with a defender with a hand in his face and another defender right there. Shoots a 3 against a double team?!

Wil, thanks for posting that clip. Missed the game, signal was out.

Have to disagree with this reasoning. In baseball every player in the lineup represents 11%; in football there are 22 starters and no player is on the field for even half the game. In basketball a team can run every possession through a single player, so it's much less of a team game

Most of the time I only give credit to the winning team. This time it is hard to overlook all such a mediocre performance. The offensive foul, falling down on defense, missing every shot, horrible shot selection, all the turnovers. Especially since Stoudamire had a great game being guarded by Garnett, an even better defender than Pierce. Especially since other than a couple role players (O'Neal and Davis) Allen was the only real bright spot for Boston

Ummmm.. We are talking in terms of last nights game. Big baby was 1-8 from the floor and horrible on the defensive end. So disaster fits his performance last night.

Also he is not better then thad young or crawford off the bench for their teams anyway.

Hard to put up numbers when you are called for two ticky tacks in the first 2 minutes of a playoff game. I thought the playoffs were less whistle riddled. The offense foul call was home cookin all the way - Pierce had Anthony's arm and nothing was called, Melo pushes back and Pierce acts and almost flops to the floor - smart, but not a foul. Melo has been playing much better defense lately - I have no issues with that as a Knicks fan long suffering. Definitely coulda still won that game though, and the Celtics aren't going anywhere this year. Knicks will most likely lose - but anyone that says they don't want Melo on their team is full of it. He isn't my favorite, but give me a break.
