Nettles and Rice is correct. During his career Jim Palmer allowed more home runs by Red Sox batters - 43 than by any other team. He also gave up 24 homers at Fenway Park again more than any other park other than his home ballpark Memorial Stadium in Baltimore where Plamer yielded 145 roundtrippers compared to the 158 he yielded on road.
These stats do not count any post season action. Palmer gave up 10 homers in 12 post season series.
He allowed 3 homers in 5 All Star game appearances, oddly all three in same inning of the 1977 game at the old Yankee Stadium. Palmer started that game for the AL and took the loss after yielding 4 runs in the top of the 1st. Greg Luzinski, Joe Morgan and Steve Garvey all took Jim deep in the 1st inning, Luzinski's was a 2 run shot. Palmer pitched the 2nd inning allowing just a walk to Dave Conception who was later caught stealing.
The NL won the game 7-5 with Don Sutton picking up the win.
