Lake Las Vegas Could See Reopening of Casino MonteLago

Lake Las Vegas could be one of the most spectacular and exciting properties in Nevada. Just a few miles from Fabulous Las Vegas and McCarran International Airport, Lake Las Vegas offers a tranquil place for those who want to vacation as well as reside in Nevada. It is close to all the action, but far enough away to give respite from the hustle of the Las Vegas Strip and other casinos. Lake Las Vegas is nestled in the desert mountains, but offers a stunning Mediterranean setting as well as golf, water sports, fishing, and entertainment. Sadly, Lake Las Vegas, has been burdened with the sagging economy affecting Las Vegas, Nevada, and the rest of the United States. Several of the companies running hotels, casinos, restaurants, and shops were forced to close and give up their stake in Lake Las Vegas. Not only did this limit what residents and visitors could do at Lake Las Vegas, but it sent hundreds of people home without jobs. Hopefully, there is change in the air. A couple of companies have expressed an interest in reviving the hotel and the casino at Lake Las Vegas. This maybe the jump start the community needs to find its footing again, and meet its potential.
The Ritz-Carlton company was one the proprietors of the 349 room hotel at Lake Las Vegas. Five months ago, though, they realized that the economy was not in their favor. They just weren’t seeing the returns they needed to make the first class hotel at Lake Las Vegas work the way they thought it would. They left Lake Las Vegas and left the hotel for someone else to pick up. Fortunately, Dolce Hotels and Resorts saw the potential of such a great hotel and picked up where the Ritz-Carlton left off. Dolce Hotels and resorts is a unique boutique hotel groups and their style fits perfectly into the Lake Las Vegas mold.
The big news, though, came this month when an announcement was made that would see the return of the casino to Lake Las Vegas. Casino MonteLago has been closed for a little over a year. When Lake Las Vegas’ only casino closed it put 177 employees on the unemployment line. Of course, without a casino Lake Las Vegas became a little less attractive for those visiting from out of state or to those who were looking for a vacation home that had gambling without having to go into Las Vegas.
Intrepid Gaming mentioned in a statement that is has started the licensing process for the Lake Las Vegas casino. They are hoping to announce an opening date for the new Casino MonteLago at a date to be named later. Many feel like this is the spark Lake Las Vegas needs to get everything running again. The plan for the Lake Las Vegas casino is to go ‘back to basics.’ They know that the cliental for a casino at Lake Las Vegas is not looking for all the superficial excitement of Las Vegas. They are looking for value. Intrepid Gaming intends to make Casino MonteLago a patron and service centered casino.

I buy chocolates from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory located on that property. When I was there in February, the owner said that they were getting ready to open the hotel and casino again but she knew not when. I guess I'll take another ride there on my May vacation and see what's going on. Place is really beautiful. Looked like the golf course was closed, and I wondered what the property owners wee doing about that situation. After all, I'm sure they had some sort of membership for the golf course if they bough a house or condo.
