Offense has long been the catalyst to MLB betting success in past years, but after watching the way that names such as Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies dominated the sport a year ago, the trend has gone in the favor of some of the best arms in the league. As the Los Angeles Angels and Phillies have shown earlier on this season, pitching has been the strongest tell in the approach to wagering on baseball, and while favored matchups aren’t always the easiest tell, they can be obvious plays when supported by strong hitting.

The Angels have clinched nine wins without a single betting services loss among their top two pitchers in Jared Weaver and Dan Haren, who have registered 1.23 and 1.16 ERA respectively. Neither pitcher has allowed more than five earned runs on the year, and while Los Angeles hasn’t ranked among the deepest orders in baseball, their pitching has made the obvious difference. There are five pitchers in the American League with perfect records through their first four starts of the season, and four of them pitch for division leaders.

The situation is similar in the National League with a couple of key hurlers still undefeated in San Diego Padres’ hurler Aaron Harang and Jamie Garcia of the St. Louis Cardinals. Harang hasn’t gotten run support like some of the other pitchers on the list, but his amazing stuff when it comes to the mound has made the difference in four wins. It may be too early to wager that these guys will be able to continue to perform at this rate much past the upcoming Kentucky derby horse betting services weekend, but early this season we have seen them get the job done.

The team to keep an eye on the most in the next couple of pay per head weeks is the one that many thought would be the most improved this season but that has struggled early on. The Boston Red Sox already boasted one of the deepest starting rotations in the majors when they went out and added some key pieces to their offense in Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford, and although both have struggled to get used to the bright lights of Fenway park the odds dictate that they will eventually come around. A slow start has the Red Sox in the basement of the AL East, but this team is too deep to stay there all year and with all of the aforementioned pieces in place to be a contender there is little reason to think that they won’t get it going soon.

Anybody that has bet on baseball this season understands how unpredictable it can be, so it is important to find these pitching matchups that appear favorable and are backed up by quality hitting. That combination will make the difference in 2011, and following it will lead to a big increase in bankroll.
