I will be the first to admit, I'd rather bet on a "dog" and take a price, as opposed to laying a big price on a favorite on the road. But "onceinabluemoon", when its time to take advantage of a situation, to win over the long season, you must lay a big price on a solid favorite, if everything calls for it.
Today, Roy Halladay, the best pitcher in MLB, goes today for the run producing Phillies, over the Padres, who up until yesterday, had not scored a run in well over 20 innings. This is a huge ballpark, designed to "help" the pitcher, so most scores are low. But today, you can't find one reason to not bet on Halladay and the Phillies, over the Padres, who seem to be the worst hitting team in baseball. Can you imagine how boring The World Series would have been last year or any year, with the Padres in it?
So today, I break one of my old rules. I am laying -190 and betting on Halladay over LeBlanc and the Padres. If Halladay, who loves to pitch in "Big Ballparks" were at home, he would be at least - 235. Getting him at -190 is one thing, but where you are getting him, and who he is going against, is the perfect situation. And remember, for all you genius money managers, you only pay that giant price of - 190, if Halladay loses. He won't.
Take Halladay (must go) and the Phillies (-190) over San Diego (Le Blanc) today!
