Home vs Away Betting Strategy Question

Hey guys, I am new to betting baseball. I noticed in 2010 only 1 team in all of baseball had a worse record on the road than at home (the Cubs). Many teams performed significantly better at home than on the road (Pirates 40-41 at home vs 17-64 on the road). This got me thinking that I should bet mostly on home teams. I read that it's not smart to bet on teams that are too heavily favored so I was thinking of betting home teams in the -150 to +170 range. Is this a theory that could work? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hope is not a strategy.

Generally speaking, home teams do have an advantage over the away teams. The problem is Vegas already adjusts the odds based on this. For example, a slight dog playing at home would be a big dog playing the same team(same lineups, pitchers, etc.) on the road. In my opinion, you have to find a happy medium.
