My old high school basketball coach Mr. Harold McManus will be inducted into the South Carolina Coaches Hall Of Fame later this month. Coach McManus had over 450 wins in 22 seasons and one State Championship and several Upper State Titles during his coaching career. Regarded as The Bobby Knight Of High School Coaches Coach McManus had a sincere passion for coaching and an unselfish desire to reach out to young people seldom duplicated by others in his profession. Coach McManus could very hard to deal with at times and made some enemies along the way, but his overall positive contributions to the South Carolina High School League cannot be denied. A very outspoken individual, McManus thrived on playing the part of the bad guy and if you were a player on his team, it was his way or the highway. Many former players will not have Coach McManus on their Christmas Card list, but his induction into the South Carolina Coaches Hall Of Fame is an award and honor that all will agree is deserved and earned through many years of hard work and dedication to his profession. Congratulations Coach Harold McManus on your great and long career. You are still the most stubborn Son Of A Bitch I ever played for.
