Can anyone give me any advice on which casino to stay at? Going with a few of my friends for Houston for a day or two. We don't really care about the games (usually play craps and BJ) but want a nice casino with a good night life. Any help?

None! I stay at Coushtta which is nice for Lake Charles, nice golf at good price and nice casino. I have not been to the new one La Berg.... but from my experiences and what I have been told there is no night life.

This is true. People visit for the gambling, maybe the buffet, and that's about all. There is no nightlife to speak of at the Louisiana casinos I've visited in either Lake Charles or Shreveport/Bossier City.

Yeah we were looking at staying at L'Auberge. Never been to Lake Charles so I really didn't know what to expect. Just going to be in Houston for a few days visiting and we decided we were going to head to Lake Charles for a day and night...

I live in Louisiana.
For casinos its coushatta. Its the biggest land based casino in Louisiana.
It has a great hotel and golf course.
It has 7 eateries and a big poker room.

It is technically not in Lake Charles though. Its about 15 miles outside Lake Charles.

As far as night life, im sure one of the farmers down the street will let you milk a cow or farm crawfish out of there ponds.

Your shit out of luck when it comes to night life.

L'Auberge by far the nicest....in fact only real luxury place in the state. NO poker room.

The rest are riverboats, seen 1 u seen em all and these guys are high on Coushatta but it dont show me shit. Indian Casino and just has a cheap feel to it to me...

Years ago when I use to drive the casino circuit to hit beatable blackjack games, I'd hit a casino in Charenton that had a great single deck game, I think
it's about an hour East of Lake Charles (Cypress Bayou).

I'd also hit Coushatta as it had a pretty good double deck game. The casinos in Lake Charles sucked for blackjack... this was about 10 years ago though.

Coushatta is not a river boat.

Yeah we went ahead and booked a room there. I grew up in NE Texas about 50 miles from Shreveport so I have been down all of the riverboats. I used to really like the Hollywood but felt like it went downhill when it was switched to the El Dorado.

That new two story set up in the Eldorado Shreveport stays pretty busy on the weekends.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..
