First of all, I would like to thank the poster TheRightSide for his charity in letting me borrow 4 books from his private collection. Without his gift, I would not of had the idea for starting this thread. With that being said, I have an idea to propose to the forum that may be mutually beneficial (and fun as well) for all of us.

I know that posters here have quite a few books on gambling - from how to win, funny stories, explaining different games, etc. Most of these are placed on a shelf after they are finished and will never, or perhaps rarely, be consulted again. I would like to start this thread by offering several books from my own collection which will be available to you, the forum, for loan.

In order for this to work efficiently, however, I believe that we must establish an "honor" system - basically by borrowing a book, movie, etc. you will have to agree to the principle that you will either A. return it to the original owner after use or B. send it to another member who wants to borrow it - this should be left up to original owner IMO.

I have quite a few books in my collection currently, but most of it is in storage in one place or another. Right now I have 3 books available that some of you may be interested in:

1) Play Blackjack like the Pros - Kevin Blackwood

2) The Smart Money (A gambling memoir from one of BW's runners) - Michael Konik

3) Super Casino: Inside the "new" Las Vegas - Pete Earley

If you would like to borrow any of these please contact me here in the thread or via PM and I will try to get them out to you as quickly as I can.

In the spirit of giving this idea will only work with the help of other charitable posters. Please do not hesitate to add your books to this thread that you would consider loaning out. Any fees for shipping can be discussed between the shipper and receiver. I believe this to be a good idea, and with a little help, could become a tradition that lasts for a long time. Feel free to post any ideas you may have that could make this idea better!

Education of a Sportsbettor by (the late Bob McCune) revised edition..

preview.php

Now back in print, this idea-packed classic covers much territory for the beginner or serious player including handicapping football, basketball and baseball; money management, making a line, betting on boxing, various techniques of handicapping football and evaluating lines. 160 pages Paperbound 2002.

Excellent information for handicappers who want some real insight into what it takes to be a winning player. I know it is a bit dated but the principals described in this or any of the other Bob McCune books are not.

Also available online at The Gamblers Book Club By Bob McCune are:

INSIGHTS INTO SPORTSBETTING
Twelve chunky sections focus on the needs of the thinking-man sports bettor who is looking for new ideas. Subjects included are: Fundamentals, Sports Services, Handicapping Techniques, Oddsmakers and Bookmakers, Handicapping football, basketball, baseball and boxing. 295 pages Paperbound 1999...

REVELATIONS IN SPORTS BETTING
This reviews and examines some of the most important concepts in sports betting. It outlines and discusses good handicapping techniques, obtaining value, how ego impacts handicapping, how to be a consistent long-term winner, betting NBA totals (check out the chapter called "The Deviation Factor" as a method to play NBA Totals - wil.), the parlay 'myth', betting pro football, understanding teasers and finding an edge in baseball betting. 145 pages Paperbound 2000

The Gamblers Book Club in Las Vegas. All materieal available by USPS.
UNITED STATES SHIPPING - 1-800-522-1777 to order. <table class="content_black_12_arial" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr> <td colspan="2">United States Shipping Speeds</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">In the U.S., you may choose from the methods below. </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="25%">a. Next-Day Air</td> <td>One business day</td></tr></tbody></table>

Besides the books mentioned above The Gamblers Book Club is packed with all kinds of gambling books covering every sport or game imaginable. I have shopped there for over 30 years and highly recommend the store for gamblers or persons simply interested in the subject of gambling (no I do not get any kind of commission for recommending them)..

You can probably find Bob McCune books at Amazon.com also..

Best of luck to all, wil.

I don't have anything by Donnahey. Most of the stuff that I have is on casino games and memoirs. I have a lot of stuff on blackjack - I will be updating the list of stuff I have available as time goes by. I would recommend The Smart Money to anyone...a great read if anyone is interested in who Billy Walters is and how he makes some of his money from sports gambling.

thanks for the kind words. You can keep those books or if another poster would like to read them send it to them.

I was wondering if it would take longer for you to get them with those nasty storms.

I think Smart money is a great read, you will not learn anything but i found it to be very hard to put down, and would recommend it to anyone who just wants a great read about BW and Vegas.
