I doubt U.S. service personnel (especially special opps forces) are going to be eligible for rewards or bounties , but they could have been acting off information from someone in pakistan who may be.

I just wondered why they didn't hit him with at tazer when he said he wouldn't surrender. Seems to me it would be a logical choice to have him kept alive. This whole thing about him being buried at sea seems "fishy" to me. Why wouldn't they give the body to the family for burial?
From what I remember, it was a $25 mil. bounty with another $5 mil from the pilots association.

All I know is that Bush, who swore he'd bring whoever was responsible for 911 would be brought to justice. Then why did he call off the search for Bin Laden? The Bush-Bin Laden connection was very suspicious. Remember that the only planes flying after 911 happened were planes that were picking up the Bin Laden family members to get them out of the country. That always left a bad taste in my craw.

House Votes to Double Bin Laden Reward to $50M
Thursday, March 18, 2004

E-MailPrintShare:
WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives, amid an intensifying hunt for leaders of the Al Qaeda terrorist network, voted unanimously Thursday to double the reward for Usama bin Laden's (search) capture to $50 million.

The move came in connection with a broader bill that expanded the State Department's anti-terrorist rewards program to provide cash and other benefits to those helping authorities track down drug traffickers who support terrorist activities.

The bill, which was passed 414-0, now goes to the Senate. Rep. Kathryn Harris (search), R-Fla., said it recognizes the growing link between the illicit drug trade and the financing and support of terrorist activities.

Three senior officials of the government of Pakistan said Thursday they believe their troops have surrounded Ayman al-Zawahri (search), Al Qaeda's No. 2 figure, in an operation near the Afghan border.
