but since they are 1000's of feet away from the next plane , i'm surprised their are any crashes at all.
cars dont wreck because of mechanical failure .. its because idiots are driving them.. pilots arent idiots.

I would much rather fly for five hours than drive for five hours and the safety difference is off the charts in favor of flying..I have flown all over the world including choppers in Viet Nam and still have no problem flying..These days I can't say I enjoy flying because of the added secruity measures and many airlines packing people in coach anyway like sardines, but it is still better than driving by a long shot..
