Currently WIN THE AL for Rays is between +2200 and +2500.....I'm offering friendly advice to load up ASAP and put yourself in a prime position for easy Hedge protection come the end of September when Rays make playoffs and the NY Yankees and/or Boston Red Sox are at home with early hot stove chat for 2012

Red Sox at +150 seems too good to be true. What were they at the beginning of the season?

My thoughts exactly ! Yankees lead looks weak as their pitching rotation looks very suspect to me. Phil Hughes's " Dead Arm " is a huge question mark. Boston started out very bad but they're starting to get their act together.

hughes wont be pitching until august, he has started 3 games all year, did you see how good his replacement is? and has a 37/7 k/bb ratio that is SICK, he had one bad start and is pitching like the ace he use to be hitting 96 on the gun and i am talking about colon....oh and did you forget how good burnett is doing? also CC is still our ace and horse and freddy garcia isnt too bad himself................ oh and lets not forget about our rookie stud nova who just shut out the rangers the other night in arlington and has 4 straight starts with 2runs or less....

and then you say boston is starting to get its act together? they are 5-5 in their last 10! they are playing less than .500 ball what do you mean they are getting their act together?

and there is no chance the rays win the division let alone make the playoffs.... please stop, they have NO bullpen, just wait till mid july when their bullpen is taxed and they will have no one... i am really not concerned at all with the rays i dont even watch the scores on them because they are just plain out not good... oh and the yanks are technically in 1st

Their pitching is suspect ! If you think it's not... then let's wait until October and see how it holds up. As for Boston getting their act together, you seem to forget how badly they started the season. I don't think the Yanks have increased their lead on them since the middle of April. When someone says the Rays have no chance ... well I kinda tune them out as I've been around baseball for probably a lot longer than most and baseball is a game of inches and surprises are the rule, not the exception. Who thought Frisco would win the World Series last year. Anyone that did should have his wallet full of $$ as they sure weren't the favorites !

I've got a little over $200 invested on Rays to Win American League for a total payback of almost five grand.

We're out here....But just quietly laying in the weeds watching the futility of Yankees pitching and the general flub ups of Boston

The pitching may get hot for a few weeks, but even that won't be enough to carry the excessive drag created by their aging and tired offense.

With only one regular starter batting over .270 after almost a quarter season, rumors of the Mighty Yankees offense have been greatly exxagerated. Just the way we like it over here in the weeds

Just wondering if you're still feeling so good about the Yankees great pitching ? CC is making a lofty 26 Million this year and He's 3-3 with a 3.47 era.

Do you still feel great about the Yankee pitching ? Joba heading for Tommy John Surgery and Phil Hughes perhaps done for the season with a dead arm. You have the 26 Million dollar pitcher in CC and a 38 year old Colon. Kinda shaky if you ask me. Of course the Yankees will be on the lookout for an acquisition.

6/28/2011:

The New York Yankees now lead the AL East by 1 1/2 games over Boston after Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher each homered and had four RBIs in the Bombers' 12-2 laugher against Milwaukee. Freddy Garcia allowed two runs in six innings as the Yanks cut Milwaukee's lead in the NL Central to two games over St. Louis.

Yanks back on top:

8/5/2011

Boston dropped to second place in the AL East for the first time since July 6 when they were a half-game out.

This is the seventh time that Boston and New York have exchanged division leads here in 2011.

2 team race...

UPDATED ODDS 8/30 2011

at sportsbook.com:

Boston Red Sox
-400

New York Yankees
+225

Tampa Bay Rays
+8000

Toronto Blue Jays
+50000
Looking over their 2 schedules, it seems pretty even to me. With the Redsox holding a 1 1/2 game lead with 1 game in the loss column. It just seems to me that the -400 wager on the Redsox is a poor wager and the only value might be with the Yankees at + 225. I really don't like the Yankee pitching right now but they seem to keep winning games.
