Looking to take the wife on a trip for about 5 or 6 days. Only place I have been in Carribean is Grand Cayman. She has been to Bahamas as well.

I am assuming that most places will not be as nearly as expensive as the Caymans. Any suggestions/thoughts. Looking for a Hotel, preferrably Marriott, since I have several hundred thousand points with them.

Thanks

your choices are St Croix, Virgin Islands, St. Thomas ,Barbados and of course Aruba

the places that you and your wife have been, are some of the most expensive places to stay......

Now it all depends on what you want to do... meaning, are they things that you want to do when on vacation. Fishing, sailing, Gambling, etc

I sure wouldn't count on that. My understanding is that the Caymans are about average for costs in the Caribbean, maybe even in the lower half.

I love Grand Cayman, by the way. Quiet, beautiful and boring, with no vendors allowed on the beaches. That's my idea of an excellent beach trip.

I would say they are one of the highest in the Caribbean. and I was just there in March.
I also will say, I have been to plenty of other islands where the Beaches and Water were better than Grand caymans.

I thought 7 mile Beach was alright....again I've seen better... BUT...

I Did go to Hell and back, which was fun. I sent some friends post cards from Hell
picked up a couple of T-Shirts from Hell.
So that part I liked......

I wouldn't go back.... that's just Me

if you want ABSOLUTE relaxation (perhaps TOO much) try anguilla

ferry ride from Saint Marteen but also a few direct flights (airport code AXA)

rendezvous bay..........really good place, lots of other options but its not a cheap place, definitively not a backpacker kind of place

Would have to agree, if you just want to "Veg" Out then Anguilla would be it.

If I had to pick one from above, it probably be St. Thomas.
You are not far from St. John's and a few other Islands, and they have some Beautiful Beaches.
Also, you can do the tourist thing by going to Mountain Top and have a banana daiquiri .

Even though this is a place where you will get a lot of people, Megans Bay is like Heaven.

Went to St Kitts about 4 years ago. It's right in the middle of the carribean and the west indies. I stayed at the Marriott it was the only resort on the island at the time. Its right on the ocean and they have a golf course across the street.. You can take a 45 minute boat ride over to Nevus which is very nice and quiet.. There were a few nice restaurants on the island and by this time i am sure there are more now..

I just got back from my second trip to St. Marten. I've always liked that island, and I would rate it in my top 3 along with Grand Caymen and Costa Rica. Naturally I prefer the French side of St. Marten. It's more laid back than the Dutch side. And of course that side has the nude beaches. For other nice laid back islands I like Anguilla and St. Johns. For it's beautiful beaches I like Aruba. But there isn't much to do in Aruba outside of the beach life and ocean activities. Grand Caymen offers a little more to do. Especially when it comes to shopping. But it is expensive there compared to the less touristy islands. Same can be said for St. Thomas. But I've never liked the downtown clutter you have to put up with if you want to do a little shopping. If you want jewery though, St. Thomas is the place to go. If you want to take home some good rum, try Barbados. This is also a very pretty island with miles and miles of beaches.

Betall...I just got back from there a few weeks ago. Megan's Bay is beautiful. And I stood at that very spot where they took that picture of it. I had my usual daiquiri when we stopped at the mountain top store. I've got to admit, St. Thomas offers some of the best views of any island when you get to the top of the mountain.
