Whether you like him or not, Reggie Bush is doing the right thing and the NFL players that are working out on their own are playing it dumb. I know that they want to stay in shape and get ready for the hopefully upcoming NFL season but they are making it easy on the NFL owners. The players are risking injury which could jeopardize their careers. The owners would be much more worried about having players ready to play football if they knew the players were out resting and vacationing rather than staying in shape and working out. The owners have locked out the players and I for one would be enjoying the rest that the owners have mandated by locking the players out. The players are the Team owners main assets and what better way to get the owners back to the bargaining table than to see their main assets vacationing in Hawaii ,Thailand, etc. It's kinda like a farming seeing his crop going un cultivated and thirsting for water. I don't get it !

NFL football players careers are very short. You better be in shape when play resumes, especially if your in your last year. Could cost you $$$ down the road if your not and you get behind another player at the same position. If you have been building your body your whole life for a football career, your not going to just shut it down. No way your going to get even a small % of players to shut it down.

Well you're already wrong as there are a decent number of players that have not reported to these so called workouts. As a matter of fact I believe the percentage of players not reporting exceeds the number reporting. You are correct about the short career and that's exactly why risking injury at these unauthorized workouts is just plain stupid IMHO. Also rest is also part of healing last time I checked. To each his own but if I was part of the Union and you know I always was.... I would not recommend the players to be working out as a team. Keeping in decent shape is always in everyone's best interest and I know you believe in that.

No big deal if some of these players are not reporting to these workouts.Thats all fine ! Keeping in shape is a good thing no matter what the situation is. Nobody is advocating full physical contact drills with high risk with other players. Just keep your body in shape whether you join up with other players or not. These players no what they have to do to get ready for the season including the healing process and rest time. You have alot bigger risk of injury for the season if your not in shape. Whether its unauthorized or not, their is a very small list of injuries in the off season. Training camp yes, off season no.If some feel the need to join with others great, if not great. There is not alot of difference in the injury risk factor working out alone or with a team. THESE ARE NOT FULL PHYSICAL CONTACT DRILLS !

I don't hear the president of this union telling the players not to do these workouts.

Yeah that makes a ton of sense on his part. He is a moron.. He is a man without a team right now.. No way the Saints re-sign him and if you were a potential team would you take a chance on some guy who has been spending his time during the lockout sitting on his ass or some young up and comer who wants to make a team who has been working out like a mad man...

That's my whole point ! I think He should be telling them not to ! There would be more pressure on the owners to start bargaining if their main assets are enjoying their vacations !

I'm not trying to defend Reggie Bush as a player ! I'm simply saying that nobody on any team should be risking injury by working out without a Collective bargaining agreement in place. This is the NFL where the teams can cut you for any reason and you're without a paycheck perhaps forever. Put some pressure on the owners to get back bargaining as they watch their asset ** the players } enjoying their rest and mandated vacation time. As for the young drafted players working like mad men, they don't have nothing as the NFL teams aren't allowed to sign them or pay them. If they should get injured...... They are SOL !

Apparently this Union head doesn't have the same viewpoint ! There is a argument to be made that the players getting together like this achieves more solidarity in the ranks of the players.

I think you are missing the point. If a player shows up to camp out of shape and not conditioned he is going to be cut anyway.. Its in his best interest to keep in shape and make sure he has a job come September or whenever they settle this issue.. As Far as the owners are concerned the players are commodities and not assets They dont give a hoot about the majority of the players. Their philosophy and rightly so in my opinion is if a player or employee cant perform they will get someone who can, they may not be better at it but the people will show up for it anyway..

Sorry but not true. We have the UFL and nobody cares ! Fans want the real deal. Fans want Brady, Peyton, Brees and for that matter Cam. Let's put it this way... If you were a NFL owner and your main assets were your signed or unsigned players, Would you prefer them to be working out and getting ready for the regular season or simply enjoying their mandated vacation in Hawaii etc ? I would want them to be working out ! So that's my point ! When you are on the opposite side of the table, it's almost never in your best interest to play into the other side's wishes. All the players should be united and not working out. Right now they are totally divided and working against each other. Some show up at workouts and others like Bush stay away. I say " Stay away and rest and enjoy " ! As a fan We all hope that the owners come to the bargaining table soon but I really will be just fine if they don't play at all. I have plenty of other things to do with my time.

Good point but they are not together in solidarity ... they are totally divided. Some players show up and some boycott ! I would be keeping in shape but boycotting ! It's what makes the world go around... difference of opinion !

Interesting point of view Pal ! I wonder why anyone on the NFL Network, NFL live on ESPN, or for that matter anyone in the media hasn't brought this unique point of view up.

Of course the fans want to see the star players. But for the other 90% of the players in the NFL the average fan could care less who plays Guard or Tackle. If those other 90% dont take the time to stay in shape and work out they will be replaced in a heart beat. You dont think some of these young drafted or undrafted players who are hungry to play in the NFL arent loving what they are seeing in some of these veteran players not staying in shape. Hell I would love it.. Thats the problem with Unions everyone gets complacent, they know they are getting their wage increases regardless of how they perform on the job, so whats the incentive to try harder? And when someone comes along is hungry does what it takes to move up,the Unions are the first to complain that the CEO is Making so many times more then the average worker. At least some of these NFL Players get it and know they have a limited shelf life to earn thousands of dollars a year..

Not only don't you get it, it's pretty obvious that you are anti Union and I'm not. I'm just saying that the players would be better off if none of the players were working out together. If they want to work out on their own, that's great. Some of these NFL players might never get a paycheck if they should get injured ! I'm done as it's obvious you and I are on opposite pages!

Good chance Reggie wont be on a team after the labor dispute is over.. So Im not really sure he is a good example of this idea.
