MLB Trade Rumors: Felix Hernandez to the Yankees a Possible Fit?
By Joel Reuter on May 17, 2011

While the Mariners have echoed time and again that their ace Felix Hernandez is not on the trade market, they should at least be open to listening to offer for him, as the team needs a major overhaul if they want to be competitive soon.

With the emergence of Michael Pineda as a legitimate front-line starter, dealing Hernandez makes even more sense right now, and if the Yankees got involved he could fetch a number of players who are ready to make a big league impact right now.

The package would have to start with catching prospect Jesus Montero, and from there the Yankees could include Ivan Nova who would be ready to fill Hernandez's spot in the rotation right now.

Add in one of their top young pitching prospects of Manny Banuelos or Dellin Betances to give the Mariners a possible replacement at the front of the rotation down the road, and perhaps one more prospect, and both sides have a trade that benefits them.

What??????? Please explain to me with that line-up why they need more hitting?

bc they have not been hitting for weeks outside of granderson. they leave way too many runners on base. cano has the highest average on the team around .280 and everyone else takes a dip after that. Throw in the fact that most of the players home runs and rbis came in the first 2 weeks of the season or so.

I think its a slump. This team will hit most of the season (I hope they don't). They are getting old but still stacked with hitting, Arod, Tex, Cano, and now Granderson is turning into an allstar.

I think their rotation is screwed. After CC they aint got shit!

the hitting will come around, they are in a slump... and burnett is having a great year, he was fatigued yesterday no reason he shouldve given up those 5 runs in that inning he shouldve been out of the game! colon has been great did u not see him against your beloved sox? garcia is ehhh on and off and nova has pitched well as of late

felix will cost too much in prospect, they will want banuelous, montero, phelps, nova..... maybe more..

id give them betances, romine, phelps and call it a day but they will want kings ransom for him

Bottom line is CC is your only viable option right now. You wont win in the playoffs (which their hitting should carry them to) with that rotation. You know this already though.

hmm no i dont know this, because pretty positive we won a world series with cc and aj as the 2 horses......pettitte pitched OK in the playoffs but he was the same age as colon and colon is having a good year if you dont read the box scores or see the games he is doing well and hitting 96 on the gun with movement......so we win a WS title with basically the same pitching staff, and a better bullpen and lineup... but yeah ill listen to a sox fan

So after that stinker vs BAL you take one game @TAM to say Nova is doing great and the Yankees pitching is all set? Well, I guess the Orioles are loaded since pretty much everybody in their rotation (Guthrie, Tillman, Britton, Bergesen) has already held the Rays to 1 or fewer runs this season :ohno:

The yanks are NOT set as far as Pitching, but not sure if Hernandez is the answer either....But could Help.
They need their Bats to wake the Fuck up ! try to carry them to mid-season, and strike a deal before the July cut off ( again IF they can hang that long )

There is no doubt they can hang. I believe they will be there come playoff time as usual. But I look at that rotation and smile.

More set than the SOX? WTF?

Beckett, Lester, and Bucholz are better than Yankees top 3. Offensively, if NYY hits, they are a wash.

The Yankees deserve to suck. When you over pay for the most overrated player in the game.

If Girardi weren't a pussy, he would move Jeter out of the leadoff or # 2 spot. Paying $51M for a SS that nobody would have paid more than $30M for.
