grass seed

what do you guys use for grass seed on bare spots? I live in ct and i used Scott's EZ seed last year and it didnt do shit. I watered and there was sunlight on and nothing came up. I think I might buy the Pennigton grass seed. Anybody have any suggestions? I have standard grass btw.

In a more serious and sincere response, I need you to define "standard grass" and then I might be able to help answer your true question about lawn grass seeding, even though I work with different types of turf down here in my longtime lawn/garden service business
