If the Mavs win the year he is the best player in the league - this is the real season - not monday night in December - if the heat when the James is the best but dirk needs to be recognized as atop 5 all time PF and comparing Garnett to him is like comparing one dollar bill to a cnote

Not sure why, but I thought of Terry Dehere before Duncan when trying to figure out "TD". Can't say I've thought about Dehere for a long long while.

No old-timers like Bob Pettit or Elvin Hayes? Even guys like Dennis Rodman have cases to be ranked ahead of Dirk IMO. It's pretty jumbled after Duncan...

Dirk was one of the few that learned and took motivation from past playoff disappointments. Many who were mentioned never did...especially that dam McGrady.

Are you talking about clutch just for this season or of all time.... because the year he won the MVP he didn't help Dallas at all. As a matter of fact, he was the reason that they were losing and many thought he should have returned his MVP trophy.

Duncan, Malone, Barkley, Garnett, Pettit. I wouldn't put him in the top five, but if we are going to discuss the five best in history, Nowitzki absolutely has to be included. And if the Mavs keep winning, it will be a lot harder to not put him with those last couple names

Actually, until this year Dirk was considered a choker in the playoffs.

He hasn't earned the right yet to be considered better than Kevin Garnett. Garnett in his prime was both
an offensive and defensive machine. Dirk is not.
