Read this one in my press guide last night.

I don't think this has been mentioned here.

Name the 2 mlb players to hit a grand slam home run on their first pitch they saw on their first at bat in the Major Leagues. One was in 2006 and the other was last year.

Only 4 players have hit grand slams on their first MLB at bat. 3 of them since 2005. Pretty crazy that 50% have nailed it on the first pitch. My guess was Jeremy Hermida. He's one of the 4, but wasn't one of the 2.

Daniel Nava did it last year for the Red Sox. The other was Kevin Kouzmanoff.

Is it a pitcher who made the team but didn't play?

I believe my answer of Kirk Gibson is correct. He won the NL MVP in 1988. It was mentioned during Thursday's broadcast on MLB network of the D'Backs/Rockies game that he never made an allstar team.

Gibson is correct. Who is the only other one to not make the team the year they won the award?
