It was necessary. Too messy. Hard to keep a coach like that as a mentor for young kids coming direct from high school.

He will land somewhere soon enough....maybe Michigan in 2-3 years@).

on one hand you're right

but on the other hand, the NCAA takes lying to them very serious, FWIW. The punishment tends to be much more severe in those circumstances

and for the record, I think the NCAA bureaucracy is a worthless POS

little things are exaggerated, significant issues overlooked, and responses inconsistent. All while implementing a playbook that's nearly impossible to monitor, from either side

The big deal isnt that players sold stuff. the big deal is that the coach knew about it, knew his players were inelligable and played them anyway. The guy was signing paperwork to the NCAA that said all his players were compliant and they weren't. Thats the big deal. If he came out last april and told the NCAA he wouldve gotten basically no punishment and the 5 players may have gotten a 2 game suspension. This is a big deal because of the cover up.

Some Bucks are saying it's worse than a lot of people imagined (hard to believe) and some more dirt/bad news is coming. I know many are saying Urban Meyer. But I think the high profile coaches out there might just wait this one out and see where it goes. It wouldn't surprise me it if they went with a rising star coach from a non-BCS conference who is young enough to ride out the storm.

Damn, anytime Ohio St. had a 14+ point lead at the half, the 2nd half under was generally money under Tressel.

Here is the latest fresh off the presses. And it ain't pretty. I can see now why Tressel resigned today before the shit hit the fan tonight with this S.I. article. I also think Pryor could be on his way out.

SI investigation reveals eight-year pattern of violations under Tressel

Tressel was forced out three days after Sports Illustrated alerted Ohio State officials that the wrongdoing by Tressel's players was far more widespread than had been reported. SI learned that the memorabilia-for-tattoos violations actually stretched back to 2002, Tressel's second season at Ohio State, and involved at least 28 players -- 22 more than the university has acknowledged. Those numbers include, beyond the six suspended players, an additional nine current players as well as nine former players whose alleged wrongdoing might fall within the NCAA's four-year statute of limitations on violations.

And Pryor driving 8 different cars in his first 3 years there. I heard his latest ride is a 350Z with temp plates. This kid falls into the category of dumb, arrogant and don't give a shit.
