I remember when Manny played for Boston (*gush* the good 'ol days) and he always liked to wear this very beat looking helmet for protection (of course) and perhaps that is because what OMT says is true in that it is indeed 'superstitious' for MLB players to do certain things, such as wearing the same cap every game.
