I'm looking for some feedback on my UFC 131 thoughts. Right now I'm interested in betting on Carwin, Munoz, Florian, and Cerrone.
I really like the line right now on Munoz. I have him at -135 and I think he's been showing improvement in his last fights with his confidence building after each win. Maia seems to have lost a bit of that spark that he used to have. I really see Munoz using his power and wrestling skills to keep the fight standing and catching Maia with a KO or TKO.
Florian is untested at 135 but I think he has the experience and coaching to perform well. I think he chokes in the BIG fights, but I see him being able to control Nunes and win by decision.
Now this is where I get a bit fool hardy. MAYBE??? As you know I think that Greg Jackson is the greatest trainer in the world right now. So far all of his fighters have been doing well and have shown great improvement. Best case in point is Melvin Guillard. Both Carwin and Cerrone train with Jackson. I think Cerrone should have no problems pulling out a decision or late submission victory. Carwin on the other hand has not fought in a long time and is coming off surgery. Ring rust is real and I see this being the case with Carwin...BUT I think Greg Jackson knows this and is creating a plan. Both Carvin and Dos Santos have power punches. If Carwin can press Dos Santos up against the cage like Mir, I think he has a punchers chance to drop Dos Santos.
I should have bet on Guida to follow my own trend to always bet on Jackson fighters but I pussied out and didnt lay the cash. My mistake. I think I'll take the plus money and wager on Carwin to upset Dos Santos.
