HOME TEAM IN CAPS

St. Louis –110 over HOUSTON
J.A. Happ has one of the worst groundball/line-drive/fly-ball profiles in the game at 29%/20%/51% and that’s why the Astros have lost 14 of his last 17 starts. His ERA is 4.65 and even that’s flattering, as Happ is not fooling anyone anymore. Happ has a BAA of .203 at Minute Maid Park to go along with an ERA of 2.70, which looks pretty sweet on paper. However, his road BAA is .289 and his road ERA is 6.82, which begs the question, why the big discrepancy? It’s nothing but pure luck, as he’s still given up more jacks at home, they’ve just come with the bases empty. A low hit rate at home has aided him greatly but it can’t last and a regression in those home stats is the closest thing to a sure thing that you’ll ever see. To take the starting spot vacated by the injured Kyle McClellan, the Cardinals promoted 24-year-old Lance Lynn, who made his MLB debut against the Giants. The tall and strong-framed former supplemental first round pick in '08 features a solid power sinker in addition to his quicker four-seamer. He generally sits in the 87-91 mph range with his sinker, but can add a few ticks and hit 95-mph with his high heater. Lynn hits his spots with his sinker and curveball, which are both average pitches. He has struggled with left-handed hitters in the upper minors but has completely dominated righties and that’s the key here. The Astros are loaded with right-handed hitters. Brett Wallace and Michael Bourne are the only two left-handed bats in line-up and both those guys didn’t start yesterday. Lynn had a high strikeout rate in the minors (54 K’s in 62 IP) this season and in those 62 innings, he allowed just one jack. He also has one game under his belt and has been working with the best pitching coach this league has ever seen for the past week. Having said that, this one is all about wagering against J.A. Happ. Play: St. Louis –110 (Risking 2.2 units to win 2).

Boston +118 over N.Y. YANKEES
The Yanks can beat the A’s, Angels, Orioles, and Royals of the baseball world but against good teams, they’re not so good. Over their last nine series covering 26 games, the Yanks have played four of those series against teams above .500 (Boston twice, TB, Seattle and Toronto). They’ve gone 4-9 against that quartet and overall they’ve lost seven of eight games to the Red Sox. C.C. Sabathia gives them their best shot to win but so what. The Red Sox possess the most potent lineup in the game and that lineup has a combined 295 AB’s vs. Sabathia and has 77 hits against him for a BA of .261. Meanwhile, Josh Beckett has beaten the Yanks twice already this year, hurling 14 shutout innings, with a 19/3 K/BB, while allowing only six hits. Is there a single reason not to wager on the Red Sox here taking back a tag? We think not. Play: Boston +118 (Risking 2 units).

You NYY writeup is incorrect. Yanks have poor record vs LAA going back to playuoff loss of 2002. We OWN OAK, BALT, TOR. How does Sea become a winning club?, TB we pretty much split with and Boston NYY have been even in regular season for a few yrs. Beckett has been rocked by Yankees plenty of times with guys in this lineup. I'd say NYY lineup over the course of the season, is the most potent in baseball, but you obviously just blabbered this to make a writeup. I'd say NYY were ona nice run of runs, pitching and the pen was below 2.00 era as of late, so 2 losses and all of a sudden we can't beat teams??
I'm not buying it. Beckett in previoua yrs vs NYY 31 RUNS, 5 outings, 26 IP, 40 H, 9 HR IN 2010, figure that era out. CC 2010 11 ER in 25 IP h2h, so how can you say what you did. If Beckett had a great h2h in 2011, then more of a regression to the mean, meaning he's about to get rocked by this lineup.

Cause Yanks are overpriced every day and betting public thinks they won't get swept at home.

That was in early May they beat Texas. I also failed to mention they lost 2 of three to KC right around the same time. You're a fan, which is short for fanatic. I have no loyalties, likes or dislikes for any team and that allows me to bet with my head. Not a Yankee hater at all. Yankee fan just perceives anyone that bets against them, hates them.

NO, I'm a NYY fan and don't percieve people betting against us as haters. I love my team, but don't assume people bet with their hearts. You making assumptions about Yankee fans.I tell you what. I'd say NYY fans are some of the most knowledgable fans in the world. We know our team ,history, the sport of baseball, fundamentals, and AREN'T BANDWAGON FANS. So don't make assumptions about NYY fans.

NO, I see it this way. Betters get plus money with hot Beckett, sox going for sweep, have good record thus far h2h, so looks like a gift dog imo, that's how I see it and many others most likely.

Yankees are some kind of awful
It's not that they're awful but the simple fact is they're almost always overpriced. Yanks fans are the most knowledgeable anywhere for sure and I'm not dissing the Yanks in anyway. I call them as I see them and play value when there is some there. Even if the Red Sox lost tonight or any of these games, all the value was on them. Doesn't mean they're going to win, just means they're a value bet. Any smart handicapper will never try and predict the outcomes of games, they'll play value and let the chips fall where they may. 90% of all these games are pure luck....a one run game decided by one at bat, a bloop single, a walk to lead off an inning, etc. NOBODY has the crystal ball to predict that stuff, whether it's football, baseball or basketball. Even in tonight's game, that shot that got by Swisher should have been 2nd and 3rd with no outs. It changed everything. If Swisher makes the play, they pitch differently to the next guy and perhaps the Red Sox tie it 2-2 going to the bottom of 7. That one play changed the whole structure of the inning and affected the outcome in a big way.

In any case, it was worth the 3½ hour wait and you're right in that they're awful, but it's their pitching that is brutal (outside of CC).
