Game 1

Texas vs Arizona State -- Line Texas -105

Shocking. Texas is the #7 seed in the tournament and ended the season as the 4th ranked team. On Friday they are pitching their ace Taylor Jungmann who was 13-1 this season and was just drafted as the 12th pick in the first round by the Milwaukee Brewers. This kid is a flat out stud.

I would have thought that this line was a mistake but 5dimes has Texas as a 21-1 dog to win it all - which is the 5th lowest of the remaining 16 teams.

This game is a match up strengths -- Texas has by far the stronger pitching and ASU has the stronger batting.

I really can't see ASU winning this series and I feel very strongly that Texas will win game 1.

Weird. I kinda like Arizona State in this one. Think I'm gonna lay off.

someone hit it

Texas is now -140 for game one.

Odds to win it all are now 18-1. Still great value - this team has a great shot to get to Omaha.

Texas only lost one series all season. On the road at Oklahoma State.

Jungmann did lose his last start. Had a terrible inning where he gave up 6 runs. Before that game his season ERA was below 1.00

We had the under in this one. Like UVA under with Danny Hultzen tomorrow.

Texas gave the game away. Gave up 2 unearned runs. Outhit ASU. It will be difficult but they can still win 2 at home.

Good luck with Texas. They have a decent record, but I just don't think the Big 12 was all that strong this year in baseball.

Played Florida +750 to win WS. Hard to see anyone other than UF, UVA, or Vandy winning it.

Did you play them last weekend +1200 to advance? Impressive win.

no

I skipped game 1
played small game 2, minus large
played regular game 3, +170
pounded game 4, +285
played regular game 5, +240

people seemed to be looking past Coastal Carolina in game 1, which I though was silly. especially since their bats went dead the weekend before

but once their bats woke up against Sacred Heart, I kept riding the gravy train

I am going to play them today too

The only problem I have with Texas is even though they have some great pitching (best in the Big 12), they were only 7th in the conference in batting average. So you've got to hope they are "on" with their pitching every time out. I actually like Texas A&M a little better than Texas. They were second in the Big 12 in both pitching and batting stats. So they are capable of beating you either way. These kinds of teams can be a lot more dangerous every time out.

Lost game 1 but still managed to win the series. Not bad for a 21-1 shot.

I think it will be difficult for Texas to win it all but their pitching will keep them in every game. I would take pitching over hitting anytime.

Florida-Texas in the opener should go a long way to determining the winner of that side of the bracket. Horns with Jungmann on the hill will be difficult to beat.

Too bad Texas can't take their home plate umpire with them.

Agree.

My focus is on the 21-1 shot.
I actually think Texas has a halfway decent chance now that they've gotten past an always tough ASU team. But winning that first game at the CWS is a must. With their average hitting, pitching alone probably won't save them if they get behind the 8 ball.
