At the time of this writing, the following Match Odds/Moneyline were available: St. Louis Cardinals (2.18, +118) and Milwaukee Brewers (1.8, -125)

Brewers are 10-1 mark at home versus a team with a winning record
Cardinals are 2-10 in Capenter's last 12 road starts

St. Louis was shutout for the third time this season in Friday night's 8-0 loss to Milwaukee at Miller Park. The Cardinals had won five of their previous six games and entered as the only team with 20 road victories. "You lose, you're disappointed. If you win, you're excited," Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa commented. "It is a very simple life. We are disappointed." The club still has the ability of bouncing back in today's contest due to capturing 10 of the last 16 meetings at Miller Park. St. Louis is 19-8 following a loss this season and 16-11 versus division opponents.

Cardinals starting pitcher Chris Carpenter will be making his team leading 14th start, entering with a 1-5 record and 4.25 ERA. The right-hander had led the club to consecutive victories over his last two outings despite not gaining a decision, giving up four runs and 14 this over 14 innings of work. Carpenter has registered a losing 1-4 mark and 5.32 ERA in seven road starts, as opponents are hitting .328 against him. In 11 career starts versus the Brewers, he has an even 4-4 record and 4.87 ERA, including a 2-1 mark and 4.05 ERA in six appearances at Miller Park.

Milwaukee continued to be the only team in the Major Leagues that has not lost consecutive home games this season in capturing the series opener. The Brewers have moved within 1 1/2 games of the Cardinals in the NL Central race, but the clubhouse is simply focused on winning games. "I think that's the last thing on anybody's mind right now, we just want to go out there, play hard," said Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy. "If we play up to our potential we can beta anybody out there." Milwaukee has certainly proved that with a solid 18-7 mark versus teams with a winning record.
