BALTIMORE Johnny Damon and Ben Grieve are now linked in Rays history for more than being one of the many who served as designated hitters.
Damon tied Grieve’s team record for reaching base safely in 37 consecutive games when he led off this afternoon’s game with a home run.
Damon’s record is the longest of his career and currently the longest in the major leagues. He also tied Andre Ethier of the Dodgers for the longest such streak this season in the majors.
