Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban was quiet throughout these playoffs--so quiet, in fact, that his near-silence became a somewhat-noteworthy story--an interesting shift from his usual, effusive sideline demeanor and his refusal to pull punches when assessing a game.

Cuban hadn’t said much of anything publicly between the beginning of the playoffs and Sunday night. But after the Game 6 victory, with the Larry O’Brien Trophy wrapped up by his Mavericks, the owner opened up. He has since spoken, both to reporters and via Twitter, about a number of things--from the victory, to his feelings toward Dirk, to, yes, his uncharacteristic silence throughout the playoffs.

Unsurprisingly, Cuban’s quiet demeanor was by design.

"The big mystery, huh?" Cuban told reporters after the victory. "We had just done playing Portland and going to L.A. I knew the questions everybody was going to ask. They were going to ask me about my repartee with Phil Jackson and the things I said about Ron Artest. I didn't want to get in the middle of a back-and-forth about that. And then we went to Oklahoma City and I was going to get asked about why I didn't vote to have the Sonics move so close to me. Why didn't I vote against it? Then about 2006, it didn't make any sense to say anything.

“The quieter I got, the more we won. I didn't want to break the karma.”

I know a lot of people that don't like Cuban, but I've always liked him.

instead of paying a $250,000 Fine, he Took that money and bet his mavs :)

Love the way he handle it last night did not want to be center of attention, class move letting the orginal owner of the Mavs except the trophy and diverting any questions about himself saying this is about Dirk and Jason talk to them.

Since the City of Dallas is having budget problems, Cuban will be picking up the tab for this week's celebration parade.

It's definitely true according to all of the Dallas news stations.

He wanted to buy the Pirates too. The faction of owners led by Jerry Reinsdorf made sure this won't happen. Reinsdorf was the only No vote when Cuban bought the Mavs.

Mark Cuban has the world by the balls and lives like a billionaire should..No telling what a normal day in his life involves compared to the average man in the street's typical day..We all should live like Viejo Dinosaur does - he is humble yet full of fun and generosity. No billionaire but you can't really buy real friendship or happiness, he comes by those things naturally and not because he owns a pro sports team for example. Judge Wapner is in the same category...

He's married, right? He could do very well with the ladies. Wonder if he's faithful.

It's easier to be faithful when you don't have a lot of opportunities but he must have temptations galore.
