So I have received a new netbook for work and need to send the old one back. What do I have to do to delete my footprints on the netbook? I was thinking just restore it to a previous date. Would that be enough?

You are better off reformatting the drive and then re-installing the OS. People can still get at some stuff with high-end stuff but its good enough for most users.

It most likely came with a system restore disk. Pop that in and run it back to factory defaults

I don't have any disks...just netbook with charger...it was sent to me with all necessary programs installed.

well your options are limited but this will work, delete what you want to get rid of, then FILL your harddrive why music or something up to the point where the harddrive is almost totally FULL and then delete the music

that way you are effectively overwriting every sector of the disk and you are good to go

also of course erase the cache of your computer and in addition to that, create a separate user and then delete the old users folder that will probably be in C:\users

those are the things I can think of without going full blast destructive mode with re installing stuff
