Does this even count as a major? This freaking set up is a complete joke. Players are just firing at pins, balls are having no problems holding. Feel like I am watching the Hartford open. Very disappointing.

weather had a lot to do with it too....a total of 22 players under par at this point still says this is a tough track

The bigger question is can he keep that same swing and putting stroke? Players all have their ups and downs throughout their careers. Even Tiger has gone through several swing changes through the years. With the brilliant play we're seeing today, McIlroy looks like he could win a half dozen majors or more. But shit happens. I would say the key to it is don't marry Swedish models named Elin while banging 14 other chicks at the same time...In fact I highly recommend not getting married at all.

Good advice GS ! He sounds like he gets it and is a little humble too ! Don't see alot to not like about the kid ! Haven't heard any swear words come out of his mouth either, and we have seen every shot so far

Too many good young players today for Rory to be all by himself for long. I'll say he wins 6.

Not saying that Rory isn't playing great, but come on, this is not US Open golf. 24 players currently at even par or better is not what this tourney is about. Being able to fire at every pin like it is the Valero Open is not what this tourney is about. Players hitting 5 iron into the green only to watch the ball check up and spin back towards the hole is not what this tourney is about. He is playing great, no doubt. McDowell won with even par last year. This set up is a joke.

I think they are going to have to start Rory proofing these US Opens

Also if he gets married in the next 5 years it will hurt his major count

I think golf is now in good hands as we distance ourselves away from the Tiger era stench. We now have someone who is great for golf leading into a new era
