Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez resigns

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Florida Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez has resigned with his team on a nine-game losing streak.

Bench coach Brandon Hyde will manage the Marlins against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, but the club will begin a search for an interim manager.

Rodriguez was in his first full season as the Marlins' manager. He became interim manager June 23 of last year after Fredi Gonzalez was fired.

He was given the job permanently five days later, becoming the first Puerto Rican-born manager in major league history.

i thought if you get fired, you still get paid.
if you resign, you don't get paid.

i doubt he walks away from the cash.
he must have been given a deal to walk away

they were doing so good too. if shit gets horrible for 2-3 wks, your team drops like a rock. it don't take long. tony pena (kc) & jim leyland (colo) two other guys who resigned.

the marlins are looking at Trader Jack. he's 80 yrs old now. last time the fish tried that, they won the world series. what a story, Trader Jack repeats world series championship w/the fish.
