Cigarette packs in the UK say "Smoking leads to lung cancer and can cause a slow and painful death".

My cousin sees a pack with that on the box and says " Wow - I ain't smokin those. I'm getting one of my American packs out of the suitcase."

I just had a friend come back from a quick trip to Mexico, and the cigarette boxes there feature A DEAD RAT!!! and then has a similar warning indicating smoking can be deadly.... I applaud that.

They've had those scary pictures on our cigarette packs for years up here. Probably ten years now. Didn't do much, except add to the stigma of "smoking is for badasses."

If you want to quit, read/watch Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking. It worked for me (easy peasy with no feeling of deprivation) and subsequently 6 others I know read the same book and all have quit since.

I was just sitting here thinking when I started smoking cigarettes a pack cost $3.50. Today's pack $10.11.
I think it's time to make some big changes.
Going on Amazon right after I type this to order Allen Carr's Easy way to quit smoking, the book xpanda recommended.

I smoked in high school and in the military back in the 80's. I remember buying a carton of Marlboro's for around 7 or 8 bucks. I quit at 22 and it's been 22 years since I've touched one.

Never understood this, alcohol is much more harmful...
