I bought a 40 inch 1080 LCD about 2 years ago. I'm no electronic guru, but it was about $700 midrange price tv.....I'd recommend spending the extra $100-$200 bucks and getting a little better quality and not be a cheap ass like me...it pisses me off everytime I go somewhere and see a better picture on somebody else's tv that cost $150 more than mine

Do the new 3d LED tv's get as hot as the LCD tv's?
I've got a 46" Sony Bravia 1080p, love the tv.
Picture is great, but it raises the room temp a solid 3-4 degrees if on for a whole football or baseball game.

Some people will tell you the best time to buy a TV is right before or after a major sporting event or during Black Friday and Christmas shopping. I think that is a total myth. Stores just market the big purchases more during those times. My last few TV's I bought were during the months of March and April. The stores seem to be trying to clear the shelves of inventory of the old models to make way for the new models of the year. I have noticed online stores being out of stock on the good models in the months before and in the months after they are pushing the newer released models so they mark up whatever little inventory they have left on the older models.

I bought 2 of this TV from Amazon in April for $1499 each and they gave me two free pairs of 3D glasses and a free 3D blu-ray player for each TV I bought.

http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-55WX8...GA2W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1308722467&sr=8-2

I mentioned in another thread that Amazon ended shipping me a TV with a cracked screen and during the return and reorder process they ended up crediting my return twice so I basically got two 55in 3D 1080P LED 240hz TV's, 4 pairs of glasses and two 3D blu-ray players for a total of $1499. The blu-ray players were crap so I returned them and got refunded an additional $350 bringing my out of pocket price down to $1150.

I agree with the other posters Samsung makes the best TV right now but I couldn't pass up this bargain price on the Toshiba's. Considering Toshiba was the original inventor of 3D to the home and the positive reviews I think I will be in good hands.

do all the LCD tv's still look like crap if you are off center? I'm looking to get a new one too, and my TV is in the corner of my living room, so the couch is off center and 2 chairs are also, I'm leaning towards getting a plasma, because the viewing angle is so much better on those, any thoughts?
