I am going to have to root against you today OMT unfortunately as I need Atlanta to remain as close to Philadelphia as possible now that the Braves have a mini winning streak going. But have consolation in knowing you are more than likely to come out on top if things shake out like I am inclined to believe. Breaking news now on MLB network that Washington Nationals manager resigns after 1-0 win over Seattle due to contract problems.

No problem. Definitely root for your Braves. I am currently in an (0-5) slide, so we'll just have to see if the Phillies are the right side or not tonight. Caught the resignation on ESPN. Thanks and best of luck to you as well tonight. :toast:

Why do you think MLB hitters especially some power hitters always take the first pitch stirke at bat? It usually is a fastball right over the plate and some big name hitters seem to take the first pitch every time I focus in on them. Chipper Jones does it quite often for example and I get so aggravated as now they are down in the count. For a hypothetical arguement give or take for the next strike thrown , there is say a 50% chance the next pitch will be fouled off, a 25% chance swung on and missed and 25% chance of ball being put into play. The next strike thrown will repeat the %'s giving the batter only a 50% chance of putting the ball in play on 2 strikes thrown. Why is some imperative for batters to take when it only narrows their count down to two strikes to put the ball in play. My uncle and I had this discussion at the Family Fathers Day Dinner. He and I are in agreement that that first strike thrown is usually the best pitch the batter will see location wise and more batters should look to put the ball in play from the outset of stepping into the batters box.

Many hitters use the first pitch for timing and are not worried about being down in the count. They want to see as many pitches as possible and are looking for a particular pitch and location that they feel comfortable waiting to see and drive. Although, not the most popular of players, Barry Bonds was the best I've ever seen at waiting for a particular pitch and location and was difficult to fool. Is this the best approach? I'm not sure. But these are the professionals and it is the type of hitting culture that has developed through the many years of baseball which is always an evolving sport as are others.

Just wondering if you had any thoughts or comments in regards to President Obama's speech last night in which the President stated a gradual withdraw down of troops from Afghanistan would begin this summer. Ironically, Sen Lindsey Graham from SC was extremely critical of Obama's speech stating a reduction of troops may compromise the results already made in that theatre of war. When I was in service, we used to play baseball when we had down time in the field. The ball was a wadded circular conglomerate of duct tape and the bat was the straightest branch we could find. I played catcher and once picked off a Captain at first after he got to big a lead. He swallowed his pride and shook my hand afterwards.

I have thoughts, however, one thing I've learned is not to discuss politics, particularly on an open forum. Let me say this in general and with politics aside. This country is in serious trouble on many fronts IMHO and things aren't going to get any better anytime soon. I'm looking at years here, if at all. I just feel fortunate to have lived during my generation. I don't envy those that face the harsh future I envision.

Wise Words OMT. Wise Words. During the generation you grew up in as a young man, did you have hobbies when not going to school or working? Did you every learn to play a musical instrument? Did you ever enjoy the outdoors fishing or hiking? Did you enjoy movies or books more? Did a girl every break you heart? Did you ever meet any famous person? Sorry to be so chatty tonight, just trying to kill some time waiting on Phillies Cardinals MLB game.

In order of your inquiries. My hobbies were all sports related. I played football, baseball, basketball, tennis, bowling, track and cross country. Musical instrument: drums. Outdoors like fishing or hiking. A bit of fishing. Liked movies more then reading. Most of my reading was restricted to mathematic books. Never had a girl break my heart. Never met a famous person.

Wow OMT you really seemed to be an athlete in your prime. I too played football and basketball. I play some guitar and like to fish also. Have had a few females do some damage but the sun always seemed to come up in the morning. A woman just yesterday in the town 2 miles from me got hit by a train and lived. I do not think she was hit directly but she was struck and lived through the ordeal nevertheless. As my sober coffee buddy Joanne always says "There is a bright side for everything." Will sign off for the evening as MLB in progress now. Hope to chat with you OMT another day. No need to reply.

WTF. Thats way too many questions, unless if you're writing a book.
My Victoria is going to tomorrows SFG game. I think we should fade her
she's about 0/5 when she goes. We can't do that can we??
Hope you're kicken some ass, but have a feeling you're pretty low key.
Good luck.

@) Sounds like Victoria will have a lot of fun. Not sure the outcome of the game however. Sanchez starting seems to walk more hitters then he strikes out. Recent starts haven't been good. Sounds like a fade to me.

Had a great NBA Finals with the first 4 games going Under the total, lost Game 5 as it went Over and loaded up on Dallas +6 in Game 6. Currently projecting collections through October at the moment.

Congratulations on hitting your Dallas future. Hope you didn't lay off a penny on the Eastern Conference champion. But either way, I'm sure you made money. You always do.

May all your bets be winners! :toast:

I laid of 17.5 for 10, but had 25 on dallas at 22/1. This maybe brings me to even on horse and sports futures.
Find out about p/to/p transfers. Got an account there recently and could help us both out if they did that.
Be gone for a few hours, you know how to get a hold of me,if needed.
