I watch both shows and I like Auction Hunter more than Storage Wars but both are good.

By the way Brandi is pretty hot on that show

Yea Brandi couldn't be more annoying. Dave/Darrell/Barry are great on the show, jarred is so-so.... Auction Hunters brings another perspective which is good cause they show all the negotiations and sales, etc

Love the show. I always find myself pulling for Barry to find that one collectible that could be worth a fortune. Dave is a dickhead. But he seems to have the best business sense of the bunch.

I go to those things quite a bit, seen a few tapings. Theyre all set up. They run a regular auction then if one of those guys happens to win it they stage it up after everything is over and tape the show. I have seen them tape stuff where none of those guys wins anything. Thats why they are more than likely staging more and more these days and why the new 'season' only lasted 4 episodes.

Did a few yesterday with the guy that runs most of the auction hunter ones. He is looking for cast members too. And SW just ended an open casting call. The auctioneers that run that show have lost most of their contracts with the companies, so despite the popularity of the shows their business is dying. But theyre doing so bad the new 'season' of Storage Wars lasted all of 4 shows. Thats why they had a casting call for it, and as far as I know, no legit buyers were even interested. So I expect to hear they next auctioneer on the 28th say theyre still looking.

But basically the shows have killed the good deals you used to get, at least short term. I suppose that once it dies down a little and people go broking spending a thousands buck for gay pron and cum stained mattresses theyll eventually go away.

As far as brandi, she isnt that hot, and she really isnt that much of a bitch. I guess people still fail to realize that 'reality' TV is still TV.

Yea lots of online articles and people claiming how fake the show is but to be honest, it doesn't bother me. I enjoy the show for what it is-Entertainment

Well of course there is no way they could do a show like that in Real Time. Just like with any other reality show, they are going to take the best moments, and then dramatize them for tv effect. It doesn't take a bunch of online critics to tell me this. It's still a fun show to watch, if for no other reason than to be surprised at what some of the stuff we call junk is really worth to some people. Remember the storage unit full of old newspapers that Dave bought for $750? And it turned out to be valuable Elvis memorabilla worth in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Whether you think this was a setup or not, just the fact that old newspapers and other junk like that can be worth so much still amazes me.

Hence why I also like Pawn Stars. I think Hardcore Pawn is a friggen' joke and is so clearly staged it does take the fun out of it. But I love seeing the experts come in on Pawn Stars and toss out mind-blowing figures. I love the pirate stuff.

Newsflash...they are ALL faked.

You think people are going to tote museum quality stuff into a pawn shop and sell it for 30-40% of retail? if they can even put a retail value on it? Seriously use your frigging head.

Oh and while we're at it, Ghost Hunters is fake too, and so is wrestling. Just in case you may have been fooled.

Storage lockers are still a decent way to make money. And before these TV shows people did actually make a decent living doing it. But these guys never ever (and I have seen maybe 10 tapings the past coule years) get multiple units at the same location. Most locations have at most 7 auctions and generally 2 or 3 of those arent worth bidding on, so the fact they show these guys or at least 3 of the 4 getting lockers from the same location is all set up. I recognize some of the untis they have bought, but not sure about others they pair them up with on the same show. Also, I am sure they plant stuff in the lockers as well.

While you can and do find some decent stuff you surely dont find multiple examples in the same locker. So it is definitely reality BASED, not reality.

Besdies there are guys out here that do these things professionally that could buy and sell Dave, so him being put forth as the big shark in a little tank is really hilarious. I have been going ot these things for maybe 5 years now and i never ever once saw him at a single one. I saw the gambler a few times before, and barry a couple. And Jarred at a few (no wife) butfrom what I remember he never bid on anything he just walked around. Basically the only guy I remember ever buying a locker out of that bunch was the gambler. Like I said they ran the word around the circuit they were going to make a TV show based on it, and 99% of the regulars laughed. but they took these guys and put the show together. Then because they wanted a 'hot' chick, they threw Jarreds wife in the mix after a couple shows. And after a couple weeks she was supposed to be some sort of expert. If you lived out here and wanted to you could have been portrayed as an expert next season as well.

I've been to a couple of these auctions. And there seems to be a Dave Shultz in every crowd. You know, the guy who bids up every unit on purpose to make his competitors pay more. I've heard that a lot of people get out of that busniess because of dickheads like him. As for the auctions I've been to, what seems to happen is the owners of the storage units usually take their valuable stuff out, and then leave behind everything else that they don't want. And the auction basically sells off the junk. My guess is this probably happens 95% of the time or more. But there are those units where something tragic probably happened to the owner of the unit, and valuables were left behind. These are the kinds of back stories that I wish they would emphasize more on Storage Wars to make it a bit more interesting.. Why did that owner leave his valuable coin collection behind? I would like to see the story behind it. As mindless entertainment goes, Storage Wars is still a good show. And it beats watching Snooky.

I kind of like Storage Wars. I get a kick out of Barry.

The show I really get a kick out of is Swamp People. Glenn and Mitchell are classic.
