Is there anything in this world more boring then playing a slot machine?

The blackjack thread reminded me about the $20 I threw in the slot machine the other day.

You have to be kidding me.

I would literally rather watch re-runs of PeeWee Hermans playhouse then play this crap.

What is the fascination with pushing a button over and over again non stop watching 3 reels spin time after time after time?

I know of people who spend 12 hours a day playing this crap.

I heard from one casino manager that they cant have cloth seats because some of the seniors are so glued to the machines that they dont want to get up to the point that casino attendants have to wipe piss off the seats because they are so addicted that they cant even take the time to take a piss.

Are you serious?

I rarely ever go to a casino, besides a poker tourney it never did much for me.
Yes I enjoy BJ once or twice a year. I will throw some money on the roulette wheel and I find that somwhat fun. But I dont understand the attraction of pushing a button and watching the same damm reels land on the same shit over and over again.

90% of the time the 1st reel lands on something that makes what the rest of the 2 reels completely meaningless. Thats like betting a 3 team parley with one game at 12 and the other 2 games at 3. You lose the 1st game 59-0, it pretty much makes the other 2 meaningless.

This happens over and over again. Hundreds of times an hour.

I will see people play these penny slots with a jackpot of $75 bucks play all day.
How can that be fun?

I understand the appeal of every game in the casino other then slots.

I know why people enjoy BJ
I know why people enjoy craps
I know why people enjoy roulette
I even know why people enjoy video poker(barely)

But I cannot fathom how anyone can play a slot machine for more then 5 mins without going completely crazy.

Im board.

I know another guy I work with that has downloaded a slot machine video game where he starts with fake credits and builds it up.

I have seen him do this for hours.
This guy is not the brightest person I ever met.
He said he does great on this video game but when he goes to the casino It dont do as well for some reason. LOL

I agree they are boring, I even once came up with an idea to make a slot that was like a video game, you'd have the chance part like most slots but when you got a bonus or hit the special jack pot or whatever it'd turn into Ms Pacman (or something like that) and how big your bonus would be based on your play.

Yeah, what's worse is playing a slot machine and not winning a dime. Sometimes I just sit there and wait for the waitress to come by and give me a free drink just so I don't call it a total waste of my time.. If you think Vegas or any of these other places are bad, try winning at slots on a cruise ship. Those machines are wound about as tight as they come.

Some of the new penny machines are a blast - the LoTR machine comes to mind. There has been talk in certain circles of machines that will introduce some sort of a mode that rewards "skill" - probably either memory or manual dexterity I would have to imagine. I have also heard of games that run ads being introduced - the catch is these games will all be close to or at 100% - you just have to watch a lot of ads to play and they make their cash by selling these ads.

As slot floors get more computerized you will find that people will have more and more options that will enhance the fun (and hopefully) the payback %'s. You would prob enjoy slots more if you a hit a meaningful jackpot too.

Good point, chop. I can handle losing $300 during a blackjack session, but get outraged at myself if I waste $2 on a stupid slot machine. My fiancee used to love those damn things...thank God I got her away from them. She's now entirely about blackjack+craps.

Your point about not even getting up to go to the bathroom is similar to why I don't like to play poker at tables where people eat dinner while playing. What, you can't set aside 20 minutes to walk away, wolf down a sandwich and clear your head? Not to mention, the food residue from their hands gets all over the cards you could be dealt on the next hand...disgusting...

Agree as well and just don't get it.

I think that maybe the reason we see it as boring is because we have seen what real betting is like with sports, table games, horses, etc., and most people who play slots have no clue about and have never tried those things.

But wait until Fishhead sees this he is going to tell us different lol

I try my hardest to stay away from slots because it is the biggest money maker for the casinos (biggeet loser for gamblers)

But slots are fucking fun....u guys are on crack.....the enjoyment is that you can get the "action " but not do any critical thinking.....most brainless betting which is why you can do it for hours at a time. Also that is the only game you can win $5,000 on a $3 bet.....the unrealistic fantasy of hitting millions is like playing the lottery.....over and over in a short period of time.

I hate slots cause leaves mefeeling like shit after I lose my ass.....but they are anything but boring..

Tip.....if u think they are boring.....step it up to a $5 or $25 machine and then you will get some blood boiling....will not be boring for sure

Boring as hell, made for the blue hairs. I haven't played a slot machine in many years. No thinking involved, old people just sitting there with a bored look on their face hitting bet max, spin, bet max, spin, etc... At least a while back you could put coins in, and pull a lever and hear coins fly out if you won something.

I play video poker and my wife plays slots. It kills me when I lose $300 on vp and she wins $2000 on stupid slots. It does tempt me to play but I get so bored with it that if I lose $20 I just give up.

As far as cruise ships - I have seen 9-6 vp machines right next to 7-5 machines. People will play the 7-5 and sit right next to an empty 9-6????

Aside from dropping $25 in a slot machine to win a car, these machines are worthless to a gambler.

$0.25 blackjack hands would probably bore you as well

Well, the first thing to look at are the pay tables for each machine. The 9/6 Jacks or Better is the one to look for as it pays 99.54% with perfect play. Perfect play is a must because if you don't it lowers the expected return.

Full Pay Deuces Wild, with perfect play, have a payout percentage of 100.76%

My favorite though is the Double Double Bonus Machine. If you get 10/6 machine the payout percentage is 100.06% with perfect play. I like this machine because of the payouts with four aces, and higher payouts on four of a kind lower than 5-K.
