Ok so about 1 1/2 yrs ago I played craps for first time in Vegas, made a little run and thought it was a blast. So I looked more into the betting and strategy. The one I came across and also heard this on advice is to bet the pass line with max odds, and maybe throw one to two come bets out with max odds. Also the theory of this strategy was to increase the size of bets when on winning streaks.

So I go to Indian casino and try this out for a day and half and went on a great run, made a killing and was hooked on craps. Since then I have played maybe 10 times both in Vegas and Indian casinos and have not won anything, not even close to a good run.

I began to question the strategy the last time as I would get up even a little and would either increase bet size or place two come bets instead of one and craps, out I lose all my profits and maybe more. Now grated these were pretty cold tables and finally I started betting don't pass line and was only way I was staying afloat.

My question is, is my strategy wrong and will only work when table is on hot run and losses slowly trickle when not?(this has been my experience, granted limited sample size) If it is wrong what strategies seem to work for you?

After the point has been established, load up on the place bets, whatever you can afford. Let them stay up for 3 rolls and then pull everything down. Replay this strategy according to who has been rolling well at the table. The average roll is 3 rolls and then the dreaded 7, so why leave your money out there for an extended amount of time, HITTEM QUICK AND GET OUT!!!

***THERE WILL BE SOME HEADS THAT COME IN HERE AND SPAT OFF WORDS LIKE ODDS AND SOME OTHER TERMS THAT THEY LOOKED UP, BUT ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS THAT THE AVERAGE ROLL IS 3 ROLLS SO ALL THAT CRAP MEANS NOTHING WHEN YOU HAVE 3 ROLLS TO MAKE MONEY AND GET OUT!!!!!!!!!

..there's a thread right down... eh, forget it.

if you want to play correctly (and by that, i mean with the highest percentage chance of winning) go to wizardsOfOdds.com and read his craps section - but in short your strategy is correct. you will lose money in the longrun, just like any game /w a house edge.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

my first time playing (and using this strategy) was very similar to yours - it was actually my first time at a casino, Mohegan Sun, and I think I rolled for 20+ minutes... It went very well. Also similarly to you, the trips to the craps table immediately afterwards weren't as successful - and while I don't keep records, I think i'm probably down about the "right" amount at this point.

IMO because of the number of bets/odds you have on the table money management becomes more important than most other games (but that may just be my experience, and my shortcomings as far as that goes).

Your strategy is correct, you're not going to win everytime but with max odds behind your pass line and come bets the house advantage is less than 1%. Even lower than .5% depending the how many times your original bet they let you lay free odds. This is my strategy and with there's a hot roll after it's done I cash out and leave. Of course many times you won't see that hot roll. My favorite game by far.

I've found that the only way to make any money is to get real lucky, and as bad as the vig is, hitting a hard-way is how I've done it .... now, I've lost my ass more than one time but I'm going to do that if they nickle and dime me to death with a small vig or if they take it one shot. I'll throw $10 on the hard 6/8, and if it hits, parlay the winnings so I've got $100 on the 6 or 8 and hope to hell it hits again. I've had it hit back-2-back three times over the last 3 years when I started playing that way. I've never had the balls, however, to put the $1k on the line for a $10k payday. Maybe if I have enough social beverages one of these nights....

Learned to play craps online and won $600 my first time playing it in person at the Excalibur in Las Vegas.

Most fun table game of them all...

The only advice I can give based on my experience on craps is to stay sober while playing..... For myself, I have lost more money on Craps than any other gambling experience ever, but when I factor in the fun/excitement that I have enjoyed I am a huge winner! For myself the top ten gambling stories I have to to tell all came on the dice table!

The losing streak wasn't an aberration; your initial session where you "made a killing" was. You simply can't beat craps in the long-term.

Horse....you are wrong my friend.

You can beat CRAPs on a regular basis if you know what the hell you are doing... you ,must chart the table...play accordingly....then you have the advantage.

Fucken high school craps guys chime in here are a joke. We laugh at the Jr. High comments. Funny....they don't have a Goddamn clue. (if they play..will learn)

Good luck to the MATH students.

Cloverleaf -

In your educated opinion, do you believe the past results of inanimate objects can influence the future results of said object?

Obviously any of us with a basic understanding of math knows that a "hot" or "cold" table should not matter, but I never hear anyone really walking up to dead cold table and making money. In comparison I do know people can walk up to crowded hot table and make few hundred within 20 min.

I guess the best way to compare is did you ever really feel confident betting on the Lions during their 0-16 season? Sure they had big lines and covered some of them but in the back of your mind you always knew they could lose buy 30 or throw 2 pick 6's in a row to blow your cover. Yet when patriots were 16-0 you at least knew you were gonna get the best effort.

I don't know just my opinion but seems so much easier to follow a hot streak rather than break a cold streak.

I have a friend that some Here have met in Vegas at the bashes.
He will walk Right up to a table that is Empty and start playing. It's up to him if he gets a Good run or not.

He says he rather play at an Empty table than a table full of people.
He never looks to get in a 'Hot" table, he the Dice are running good for him...that's His Hot Table.

He's probably the Best Crap player I know, and without question the Biggest.
Bernie ( my mentor, who past away 5 years ago this month ) was the other.

When these two got on a Crap table, your chances of making money Tripled.
