1. contracts rip you off at 85 bucks a month for 400-450 mins.
2. they hold you hostage for 2 years.
3. no more unlimited data, you'll be paying even more now with most carriers having tiered plans and with 4g, you'll burn through your allotment.
4. i think almost everyone has access to a computer at work and home.
5. apps are horribly overrated for the most part.

im trying to break my contract with verizon now. when i do ill go back to my prepaid t mobile flip phone that cost 5 bucks a month.

1 and 3 points are not right...

I am using Sprint which has 1500 minutes with unlimited data family plan for 2 phones (Evos) for 130 a month. You get unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7 as well.

Half the net is blocked at my work including my personal email so it makes a difference.

There are shit loads of apps for the androids are free and work great.

Was out of town last week for 4 days. On day 2, my phone needed charging. Only problem was that I forgot to pack my charger. Since I was pondering upgrading to a "smart" phone, went to the local mall and added a $15/mo. data package to my account and they game me a new fully charge Samsung Captivate for free (3G, would've been a$100 to get the 4G).

Anyway, downloaded a free app to download music. Located Iggy Pop's 1977 LP "The Idiot" and selected "Download album". After playing "Dum Dum Boys", I went to play "China Girl" and the horror that is David Bowie's 1983 remake came out of the speaker. My conclusion is that a "smart" phone shouldn't be allowed to call itself "smart" if it thinks I'm gonna be OK with that substitution.

Edit: of note is that if you connect to your own WiFi, anything you download doesn't get applied to your data plan. This is good to know if you don't have unlimited data.

Sigh. They only "hold you hostage" because they're subsidizing the phone in the first place.

You know that phone you get for $49.99? It probably costs the carrier $300-500.

American carriers have tried un-subsidized pricing, but it rarely works. Americans would rather get the cheap phone (and then bitch about 2-year contracts).

LOL this is funny.. You act like most of the gamblers here are bigshots who can afford $100 throw away 5tm parlays... HILARIOUS!!!!

Do you realize most "real" gamblers bet much less.. On the internet everyone has a huge bankroll, bets at least $100 on a play and has a 9inch dick. In the real world its much different.
