Here are my updated pitcher and bullpen ratings. The higher number the better.

I broke the individual pitchers into 2 categories based on innings pitched compared to their teams games played.

I posted them in an html page as it's easier to read. They are below, bullpen listed first then individual's by league.

For daily line predictions and totals, you can access the MLB Predictor here:

I've also set up a sheet using these ratings, where I can input any pitcher in history and get their ratings yearly and career. I've broke them down into 3 categories based on their performance compared to a league average pitcher. Their season is classified as Hall of Fame, Cy Young, and All-Star. They achieve each 1 by reaching a certain percentage over the yearly average for that particular year.

I thought it was interesting to compare pitchers from different era's. If anyone is interested in a particular pitcher I can input the numbers and post them. It's not really a handicapping project but I found it interesting.

I'm happy with the pitcher rating as a whole and feel comfortable comparing different years.

If you get the time, I'd like to see how you'd compare the Sandy Koufax' and Bob Gibsons and louis Tiants and Whitey Fords and Warren Spahns and Denny McLains etc.

That would be very cool.

Ok. here are a few pitchers. It's a little difficult to read but i'll try and explain it the best I can. I'll use S.Koufax as an example.

top left to right

Rating (43.28)= career rating all seasons tallied
Hall of fame*,Cy Young*,All Star*= Using the player stats for that season and comparing them with the league average

To qualify for each, their season stats must have exceeded the league average by these pct's for each

Hall of fame*=120%
Cy Young* =115%
All Star* =110%

these pct's I came up with and they are tough but fair if you compare each pitcher to their league average each yr.

2nd row

avg pitcher= the average pitcher rating during their career.

* You'll notice some era's have a higher number where pitchers dominated 1968 was an example of a high average year. Making Gibson and McLain's stats look not as great. Still great but in a better context.

excellence pct.= pitchers career rating compared to average career pitchers in mlb during that span.

Some may disagree or agree. I just thought it was interesting to me. Check out Pedro Martinez's numbers. Off the damn charts. Plus he did it during the steroid era. His numbers killed league averages.

one other note to just to compare 2 pitchers from the same year.

1968 Denny McLain vs Bob Gibson

McLain had more wins...mainly because his team scored almost 2 runs more per game on average PER START. I have Gibson's season rated higher based on reg. season stats. I believe he also beat McLain twice in the World Series that year.

You may not agree with them, but using basic stats they give a pretty good idea of yearly results. I know there are a 100 different stat ratings nowadays, just thought I'd share.

Thanks. I didn't necessarily mean those guys specifically, but I'm happy to look at their stats.

I'm from Boston. I went to Pedro's first start in a Red Sox uniform, a 2 hit shutout. We knew that we were in for something special. At the peak of his career he may have been the best of all time. Certainly in the conversation.

Thanks again.
