Guy at the yanks game probably just hit a small lottery win at the cost of a Yankees game ticket.. How much do you guys think that 3000 ball will go for? Or do you think it would be worth anything?

Considering its Jeter and there are tons of rich NYers in all sorts of industries. I'd think over 100k easy.

Some hedge fund dude will probably give a mil for it, who knows. $ to those guys is nothing

no way. ball isnt worth even 50K

I mean technically the ball isn't worth more than a regular baseball. However, think about it its Derek Jeter and its New York. There are so many rich people in NY. Some hedge fund dude would've given over 100k for it easy I think. Jeter is the Ruth/Mantle/Gehrig for this generation of NYers. I definitely think someone plops down 200k for it but we'll never know.

Whats this kid think hes part of the Yankees or something? Its like dude, your a fan, a paying customer.

It just goes to show fandom in America can get pretty stupid sometimes.

If hes 23 and a Yanks fan, I'm guessing JEter is his fav athlete ever and he just isn't logical. Its like yeah thats cool you got a fav athlete, my fav athlete is Tom Brady but I'd never give him anything for free. He has enough!

He's probably got that thrown in "I reserve the right to scalp whatever games I don't feel like going to"

It's 9600 dollars for a premium game (Red Sox or Mets etc)
It's 7400 for a regular game,(KC Royals or Chicago White Sox)

Let's say the average is 8500 x 42 home games that's 357K

Now if he got the nicer suite it's 11.8K and 8600 a suite per game.

He's fine

I am really torn on this.

1. He is considered compassionate, classy, and an all-around good fellow for doing what he did. Karma, if you believe in it, will really be on his side for the future and people will look kindly upon him. The Yankees and Jeter will think kindly of him and rewarded him with expensive seating.

2. He just cost himself a couple hundred k of dough, people will forget who caught the ball over time and his good actions will not be remembered.

I am not a die-hard fan like this fellow, so I think I would've ransomed the ball at the risk of being called greedy, selfish, and a prick. I'd rather be called that stuff with thick skin and be a couple hundred k richer.

I doubt anyone would've called him that.

Also, as far as the suite tickets. Just because that is what the going rate is for them doesn't mean he can get that on the open market. It is kinda funny the Yanks gave him that though considering nobody else is buying those things for KC royals games.

I think it would've depended on his asking price. Ask for 50-100k, people will think he's a moron and selling it short. Offering 300-500k, people will think he is greedy and yankee fans will give him some hell since Derek Christ will have a tough time getting the ball back.

The article also says he gets the suite for all playoffs/ World Series so if the yanks make the world series those would be some expensive tickets!$$eyes$$
