NEW YORK (AP)—Derek Jeter homers for his 3,000th hit, making him the first player to reach the mark with the New York Yankees.

Derk Jeter circles the bases after hitting home run for his 3,000 ML Hit at Yankee Stadium.

Jeter hit the milestone with a drive to left field with one out in the third inning Saturday at Yankee Stadium. He became the 28th major leaguer overall to get 3,000.

Jeter singled in the first inning to get close, then got the historic hit against Tampa Bay All-Star David Price

You could buy a nice condo for what you could sell that ball for. Is that kid NUTS? Are you kidding me?

In 8 years if he gets laid off is Jeter gonna pay his mortgage? What a stone moron. There are other ways to be nice and generous than give a dude worth 200mill a baseball.

Wow he'll be on Regis! Then our beast of a media consumed culture will forget him in a week and he'll be without 200k.

200k > being on Regis and talk radio for 5 mins.

Its not like they're gonna let him guest star on Curb Your Enthusiasm which starts tomorrow and is the best comedy of all time BTW.

I guess I didn't get my point across.
He'll make out fine.

CYE is terrific by the way, I thought they ended it though.

Kudos to Jeter from a die-hard Red Sox fan.

Jeter is one of the few Yankees who has my utmost respect (Mariano is also on that list).

Jeter finished the day going 5 for 5! Not too shabby.

In a historically significant game I can only recall 1 player who topped Jeter's 5 for 5, hr for 3,000 & driving in the winning run. Who am I thinking about?

Coming from a Die Hard Yankees Fan, I could say about the same.

Patsfan, why are you bashing this guy?

"According to Kay, Lopez will receive four tickets to a suite for every remaining game at Yankee Stadium this season (including any possible playoff games) plus first row Legends Suite tickets to Sunday's game. He will also receive an assortment of bats and jerseys, plus the opportunity to meet Jeter."

I would say that is a pretty damn good deal. Do you even know how much that is worth?!

The problem is you can't get near fair market value on the secondary market for those suite tickets. Keeping the ball and selling it would of netted him more $. Its not like you can flip 4 seats for 5k, there is a reason the Yankees are giving them to him. Because their fans aren't buying them to games that aren't vs Red Sox/Mets

I'm dissing him because he is putting loyalty to laundry ahead of paper. If he's broke in 10 years, guess what? The team isn't paying his rent. I'd never do them a favor.....

Get your $ for the ball and be done with it.

I read the ball would have fetched about 400k. 400k to Jeter or the Yankees or whatever is chump change....Its funny that people are praising the kid for not being greedy and asking for money, etc, but look at the baseball players and their salaries....hell, Jeter could at least buy a home for the kid or a new car, something
