What's a decent paying job to get with no degree? I thought about starting another business, have a few ideas, but not sure I want to go that route.

I haven't worked for the man in eons.

I am just about done with my Medical Coding schooling to take my test for certification. If I pass, I can get a job and work anywhere in the world from home.

I am going to Costa Rica at the end of August to scout it out, but from what I've heard, making money there will be tough, at least in the beginning.

Medical coding in a nutshell is codes for medical procedures/office visits/illness/etc. Everything you go to the doctor/hospital for has a code, they send it to coders and we code it. A lot more to it than I initially thought. My sister does it and pulls about 60K a year, can do more with the right company and work from home, on your own schedule.

It takes approx 3-12 months. I would have been done by now, but I am dragging my feet. It's difficult, but you can do 15-$25 an hour or so.

My plan is to land a job working from home, check and see if I can move out of the country and work from home. My sister has a gig where she can work from anywhere. But I would have to check on the tax laws

Bartending/waiting tables is probably the most cash you can make quickly and easily w/out getting a formal job. Delivering pizza's...but gas is so freaking high.

Otherwise....you'll be working "for the man".....

Inside Sales!!!

I got into electronic component sales 7 years ago and it seems to be working out for me okay. It is a recession proof job because the majority of your pay is commission. My hourly pay is only $10.00 an hour so when it comes time for lay offs they just leave us sales people alone. With my hourly and commission in a bad year I make between $60k - $70k a year and in a good year $90 - $100k a year. I have also made the transition to work from home about a year ago so it has been a drama free environment.

If you tell me the area you live in I can tell you what companies are near you that you could look into for employment.

If you lived down here you could work in the oilfield.
Pays great, and the work is not nearly as bad as the reality tv shows make it out to be.

100K plus low cost of living= nice life.

My 100K is just as good as someone elses 200K in another part of the country.

Where is down here? I am currently in Northern NM and am having a hell of a time getting into the oil/gas industry.

I'm not sure why you are even asking what you should do? Your clearly on the right track with the medical coding stuff, just stay on track with that and you'll be pulling a decent salary in your underwear in no time!

In the mean time I'd say maybe construction/landscaping some type of manual labor to make ends meet ain't bad. Obviously you don't really wanna learn/train to do anything since its gonna be so short-term anyway with the medical coding imminent.

Good luck but the medical coding/live somewhere cheap/work from home sounds like a good recipe.

As an aside, do you know anything about medical bills? If so Ive got a question I'd like to PM you.

maybe start a website on something you're interested in? do you NEED the money, or just want something to do and add a little coin to your pockets? I put up a website in one day, and am pulling in a few bucks a day from google - i assume if i actually spent time on it, i'd be able to do a lot more. i'm sure your baking expertise could be marketable.

My cousin is looking to go into medical billing/coding and claims that she can't find a good school. Which one did you attend?
