only 1 former champ left....

But, of course, some well-known faces joined Brunson on the sidelines, including former main event winners Jerry Yang (from 2007) and Greg Raymer (from 2004). The leaves just China’s Johnny Chan – the main event winner from 1987 and 1988 – as the only former champ to make it to Day 2.

Yeah, black Friday killed the game! Lmao

Dont be so quick. a lot of internet players are there on their last dime.. Several have already said their done. 1 of the best online cash game players there is lasted about 4 days in Vegas. ive heard of many others who are broke or damn near it.. Could very well be the last hurrah if we dont have legal online poker before the 1st of the year and since the main concentration of the Govt is changing from a republic to a dictatorship i doubt seriously they will have time to worry about peons playing poker when they have S.S. cks and medicare to steal and a new world military to support. If legalizing poker is not an impeachable offense im sure they wont have time to fool with it...

Hellmuth made it to day 2
Quite an accomplishment, I guess. :ohno:
But I understand Hellmuth, I also tend to forget about having bought into 10k poker tournaments from time to time. $$:($$

"Although Phil Hellmuth is known for making late entrances here at the WSOP, we imagined he'd show up right on time to try to grind up his small stack of 11,800. As the first level of play today was ticking down Hellmuth's seat remained surprisingly vacant. We did a little investigating on Twitter and found these posts by Mike Matusow:

"@phil_hellmuth is such a I**** hes getting blinded off has 5k left has his phoneoff and a do not disturb on his phone at hotel" and "sorry @phil_hellmuth that your wsop comes to a end this way i even got them to ring inside your room with a do not disturb on it" (post edited for spelling)

Hellmuth then tweeted not long later, "Security broke into my room, I'm like, 'What's going on?!?' SGuard says, 'You're playing in the World Series of Poker today.'" followed by "I jump out of bed, dress, and run down to my car. Didn't know you could drive 75 on side roads!! I Thought I played Day 2 Tuesday..."

Matusow somehow was able to convince the security guards at Hellmuth's hotel to break into his room to save him from completely blinding out of the tournament. Hellmuth arrived right as the first level of play was ending and his stack, which has been blinding down for the past two hours is already down to 7,675. He'll obviously have a lot of work to do if he wants to make it to Day 3."

Yea i heard all about this. I brought it up because it was stated only 1 former winner made it to day 2 and they said it was Johnny Chan...so that was obv incorrect

Six days of the World Series of Poker will be shown in same-day coverage on half-hour tape delay with hole cards shown for the first time, ESPN announced Wednesday.

Days 3 through 8 of the WSOP main event -- scheduled for July 14-19 -- will feature 34 hours of "live" poker on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN3.com featuring unedited play and hole cards.

The 30-minute delay coverage on ESPN2 (and simulcast on ESPN3.com) will only include hole cards postflop. There will be two feature tables, and coverage will shift between the tables every 30 minutes, but any "all-in and call" situations will be included.

The live coverage will precede ESPN's Tuesday night WSOP telecasts, which begin July 26 and run weekly until a main event champion is crowned Nov. 8. Norman Chad and Lon McEachern will remain hosts of the coverage on ESPN.
